Fake KKK Protesters Disrupt Sessions Senate Hearing: “What Is This Craziness? I’m A White Man!” [VIDEO]

The Hill reports:

Protestors dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan interrupted Tuesday’s confirmation hearing of Attorney General-designate Jeff Sessions, chiding the Alabama senator for past allegations of racist comments.

The two protestors were dressed in white robes and hoods, holding foam fingers with “KKK” and “Go Jeffie Boy” written on the hands. They chanted sarcastic praise at Sessions, as well as comments like “protect all the whites.”

Seconds after the protests began, Capitol Police restrained the protestors and escorted them out of the hearing. Sessions served as a top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump during his election and has a long career in law and on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is holding his confirmation hearings.

You will find out today why I call him Jefferson Bullshit-regard Sessions.

I hope crazy, contentious, outrageous protest become a symbol of the Trump presidency. Resist!

    • bambinoitaliano

I don’t think there is any other way to go about it.

    • Blake Jordan

I look forward to the shit that will go down at his inauguration…

      • Exatron

If people thought his tantrums are bad now, imagine how ballistic he’ll go if the inauguration is disrupted.

        • Paula

That will be delicious! More popcorn!

        • Kruhn

Actually, one of the demos is on Freedom Plaza across from the Mayor’s Office on the parade route.

      • kaydenpat

        Yes please!!

    • canoebum

Ridicule and mockery are what got Der Herr into the White House. They will also be his undoing. He may have succeeded, but there are many people who are much better at ridicule and mockery, actual professionals in the art, and they will go after him every day. Eventually, because he has an insatiable need to be admired and praised, the pros will win and Trump will go ballistic to the point that his mental illness will be apparent, even to his most ardent supporters. After that, we’ll deal with Pence. We know how to deal with him, too.

      • Beagle

Not to mention, there are a lot of pros and only one Dump, so they can overwhelm him with mocking. It’s hard to tweetstorm for more than 24 hours a day.

        • Kruhn

          But that would take coordination.

    • Kim K’s Kute Koochy✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

it’s likely the MOST EFFECTIVE to Tramp’s fragile ego. He was mad at 10 protesters outside Tramp Tower , imagine what he feels on inauguration day LOL

Really OT but I thought it was funny and, damn, we all need a laugh right now.

  • kevin vincent

Am I the only one who finds this needlessly provocative and kinda stupid? How does making light of the KKK help anything?

    • Olive Yurduc

Yes, let’s just forget about Sessions’ racism, and trust Donald has made the right decision! /s

    • Guest

I think it is brilliant satire

    • Robincho

Making light of something, mocking it, pointing and laughing your ass off at it — these are the most effective methods. Like what Mel Brooks did to Herr Schicklgruber in The Producers…

      • Kruhn

And to the actual Nazis in the Western Front in World War II. Brooks was assigned to a propaganda unit during the war and would mock the Germans in the Western Front.

    • Texndoc

If it makes you feel better, Chris Hayes just tweeted about the same thing.

    • Butch

I disagree that they’re making light of the KKK. And why is it needlessly provocative? What else is left to us? They should sit demurely, raise their hands, and wait to be called on?

      • Duh-David

“They should sit demurely, raise their hands, and wait to be called on?”

We have Senator Cory Booker and Congressman John Lewis for that.

      • Bared Bear

Exactly. If I’m going to have to quietly run next year from safehouse to safehouse through an underground railroad to escape Trump’s gay forced labor and concentration camps… I’m going to bitch about it loudly starting now.

    • The_Wretched

It’s symbolically calling sessions a kkk member.

      • FAEN

Because he IS a member of the KKK and everyone knows it. It’s only because he’s from Alabama where time never seems to move forward that this POS is able to continually win a seat in the Senate.

  • The Return of Traxley

Jeffy Sessions just had the most confused boner ever.

OT, I find it funny that Drumpf holds his first press conferance in months the same night as Obama’s farwell address. How much you want to bet he is going to tout his ratings if more people tune into his than Obama’s. Even if his are lower you know he will lie saying they were higher, he just can’t help his compulsion to lie. I really think he believes all he says is the truth, classic symptom of a prerson with that mental disorder.

    • Snarky

Trump’s (promised, we’ll see if it happens) press conference is the next day. He waited for Obama to schedule his speech, then picked the following day for his (again, promised) presser, because like you said he can’t let anyone else have a news cycle.

Obama’s speech in Chicago is tonight. Trump says he’ll have a press conference tomorrow.

      • SelectFromWhere

But there are still lots of things happening (confirmation hearings, and something else important) at exactly the same time as his “press conference” (how many believe he will say anything beyond “I know things you don’t know, so many things”), timed specifically to create a maelstrom of media events all distracting from each other so no one can be under proper scrutiny.

  • Rex

See, Donald, there are still ball gowns available in DC.

  • The_Wretched

    Who are the pink hats?

  • Martin

Detained by government for their free speech. The first amendment, it would seem, protects only popular speech.

    • Oh’behr

Now if it were serious KKK tea party Sessions supporters, then it would have been okay and they wouldn’t have been removed. The KKK is oKKKay.

      • Kruhn

        They would have. See above.

    • Kruhn

They were disrupting a hearing. They got to say their piece. They’re usually escorted out of the building and that’s it.

  • Robincho

Congress is having another of its d’oh!-regard sessions, I see…

    • Snarky

I see what you did there.

  • FAEN

They had to have fake KKK members. The real ones are too busy sucking Tiny Hands’ Tiny Pee Pee.

Speaking of the KKK I’m surprised Vichy Kate isn’t here to school us on how ‘pro gay’ Dumpster is.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

Tuesdays are her gun rubbin’ day

      • FAEN

Ah I see. That explains a lot.

    • Acronym Jim

She got raked over the coals the other day for pointing out that Trump doesn’t just mock disabled reporters.

  • Ninja0980

Saw Sessions answer on marriage equality and it’s BS.
As Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have made clear, marriage equality is settled law until they can get two more people of their ilk on SCOTUS and then they will be going for us full bore.

    • FAEN

His inhumane reaction to a child in distress during the UAFA hearings was all I needed to know about him.

    • Acronym Jim

As our illustrious host previously pointed out in a different blog post, Session’s answer was technically correct: “It’s settled law at this point.”

  • Paula

Sessions just said. I understand the effects of civil rights on our African American brothers and sisters.” Gag me with a fucking spoon!!!
Somebody punch this asshole in the face.

    • Supercubby

And in his mind he’s saying “Don’t say colored, don’t say colored, don’t say colored”

    • Kruhn

      Let’s form a line.

  • Oh’behr

    Bravo for them. Lol.

  • bmoore4026

Oh, this is the appetizer to the next four years, ain’t it?

  • Ninja0980

By the way Bernie or Bust and Stein voters.. keep in mind Sessions will be waging war on states that allow pot so get ready for your protest vote to bite you in the butt earlier then you thought.

    • Bared Bear

Yep. That’s going to harsh their smug little buzz.

    • Oh’behr

He’d better not go after medical marijuana either. Nor pot. Fuck SS=Sessions of Alabummer.

I don’t do either as I don’t need it, yet I’m tired of these GOP wastrels and their hypocritical morality. Save the children and teens. Please.

      • SelectFromWhere

That will be near the top of his list.

    • CJAS

It’s interesting how we focus on 6% of voters who voted ‘other’ and not the 70% (white voters) who were motivated by months of hate speech.

      • Card

Oh, no, we’re focused on them too. But that 6% who KNEW they did not want Trump and his cronies in power could have ENSURED such if they had taken the time to think about real consequences rather than go through with their short-sighted protest vote.

        • CJAS

Are we focused on the racists? I don’t see it. From the post election comments, I don’t read it. This seems the agreed-on narrative. And strike that 6% figure, I forgot that 1.5% did the same in 2012 yet the Obama campaign managed it.

    • UrsusArctos

Gotta keep those “for-profit” prisons full of dark skinned folk. If it takes a fresh batch of stoners to make quarterly profit projections, oh well.

    • ultragreen

Most of us don’t smoke pot, but it doesn’t surprise me that you would have such a misleading stereotype. And the white people who supported Bernie and Stein don’t get arrested for drug-related offenses anyway, even when they smoke pot or do other drugs. They are too white and too affluent.

  • Lazycrockett

    What a fucking weasel.

  • KnownDonorDad

Trump will tweet about how this is tremendously offensive, and Sessions should have a safe space.

  • Ninja0980

Assholes like this were the reason Republicans were able to get away with so much garbage during the Obama years and now.
Republicans flat out told Obama he wasn’t going to be allowed to appoint judges to certain courts even though they were the minority party at the time.
By the time Democrats did the nuclear option, Republicans has obstructed or blocked more then 25 nominees to the courts and other cabinets, more then any other president in history had faced.
And yet Democrats were the unreasonable ones at the time despite the fact that when W encountered the same problem, a deal was made so some of his judges got confirmed.
A deal Obama was denied by “moderates” such as John McCain and Susan Collins.
As I said before, the nuclear option was going to bite us in the butt at some point.
But we were able to get progressive judges on many courts that otherwise wouldn’t have been seated and Trump would have more seats to fill.
Fuck people like Cizillia and the other pundits with a rusty spoon.
They are to blame for this crap as much as anyone else.

    • FAEN

It does amaze me when journalists attack the Dems for pushing the nuclear option while conveniently forgetting it was their LAST option and it was their last option because the GOTP refused to act like adults.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Sadly, that’s the thing about nukes (figurative or otherwise), once you use them, you can’t undo the damage. Nobody wins.

      • Ninja0980

Yup, the same deal Republicans cut with Democrats to allow W’s nominees through they refused to allow with Obama.
That is when it was done and not before that.

    • Snarky

Just remember, Cillizza and the rest of the media don’t have a single vote in Congress. The Dems were playing a different game than the GOP and sadly this is what it got us.

Anyone could see that eventually the nuclear option would bite us in the ass. It was short-sighted.

      • Ninja0980

Some of the folks doing it knew it too but they had no choice.
Obama wouldn’t have been able to appoint as many judges as he did if our side hadn’t done it.

  • Lazycrockett

God is he trying to suck up to Leahy.

    • Ninja0980

Leahy is one of the reasons Trump has seats to fill that he shouldn’t.
He allowed Republicans to abuse the blue slip to an absurd level because of tradition, something Republicans forgot when W was in office.
Spineless Democrats are just as bad as Republicans at times.

  • Lazycrockett

    Oh Lindsey I do declare.

  • Lazycrockett

The only thing worse than a racist is one who lies bout not being a racist.

    • SelectFromWhere

Which means about 98.9% of racists.

    • olandp

Racists rarely see themselves as racist. To the they are just reasonable.

  • Lars Littlefield

Personally,I like the elderly woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty all in pink. Security couldn’t drag her out fast enough. (Watched this happen on the gov. TV channel.)

    • SelectFromWhere

“Liberty” for them is a bad word unless it’s attached to a University.

      • Lars Littlefield

For Sessions and the Republicans, yes. Not so much for the Pink Code protestors.

  • Acronym Jim

Who are the people dressed as pink gnomes?

Edit: I see someone elsewhere asked this question and the answer is members of Code Pink. Cute outfits!

  • Exatron

We need to disrupt everything Trump and his cronies try to do. They don’t deserve a moment of peace until they’re gone.

  • Johnny Wyeknot

    Red tie ✔️

  • Crow on a Top Hat

    I love these people.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

LOVE THIS! This is protest done right. Holding a mirror up to Sessions. Even the fact that they’re white makes the point, especially given how calmly and politely they were removed, because had they been any other shade, I suspect it would have been a tad different. Bravo gentlemen, bravo.

  • greenmanTN
  • kaydenpat

Good going. Hope this happens at the inaugural balls and at the inauguration itself. Trump and his ilk need to understand that they’re not beloved of the majority of Americans.

  • This is not helping. Does Sessions have direct tires that are provable to the KKK? Like was he ever an actual member and they have proof of that? Because if not, they’ve raised the bar for his racism and if he can say “I’ve never belonged to that group how dare they say that” and then that becomes the story, not his actions as a public official. Liberals keep doing this and never seem to learn.
