Trump Loses His Cannon Over Debate Schedule

Unrelated to the above nonsense, Donald Trump is bitching about the “rigged” presidential debate schedule, which was announced long, long before anybody seriously considered the prospect of him becoming the nominee. The Hill reports:

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump tweeted his opposition late Friday to the general election debate schedule against Democrat Hillary Clinton, calling the current lineup “unacceptable.”

This year’s general election is set to include three presidential and one vice presidential debates, all announced on Sept. 23 of last year by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.

Two of the presidential debates do indeed coincide with NFL games: The first, on Monday, Sept. 26, falls the same evening as a matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. And the second, set for Sunday, Oct. 9, will air opposite a game between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers.

  • bkmn

And those dates were agreed upon a year ago by both the RNC and DNC. Pathetic little baby.

    • tcinsf

The woman to the left is why scares me. The creepy, enamored look on her face. Yeesh.

      • TuuxKabin

She looks like the one from an earlier rally, in the spring, with that messianic rapture look, and a sign: “Thank you Jesus for President Drumpf”. Can’t find the photo, but it pops up here from time to time. Still hot in the bay area?

        • Ernest Endevor

          You mean this one?

          • TuuxKabin

Gawd, yes. It’s worse every time I see it. Thanks.

          • medaka

            Ohmyfuckinggod. Those are actual people.

          • TuuxKabin

Proof there are ‘the walking dead’.

          • medaka

Remind me to upload the one-off Kabuki where they did a wacky invasion of zombies in Edo thing, with a crazy version of Patti’s (well, ok: Them’s) Gloria. It’s pretty fucking great.

          • TuuxKabin

Them made the mold for Gloria, Patti broke it. Both are great versions. So. Okay. I’m reminding you, upload the fookin’ Kabuki.

          • medaka

Here’s a teaser. Production company takes down YouTube uploads (again and again, I’ve tried). But you can hear Gloria squeak though here in their promo. Living Dead in Edo: the whole thing is ridiculously entertaining.

            Ribin-gu de-do in Edo….

Good gawd. WTF? Loved it. Thanks. Watching The Man Who Fell to Earth the other night, there is a bit of Kabuki in a scene that upsettles David Bowie and he rushes out of the restaurant/theatre. What a mess of a movie, but in the version/cut we saw David Bowie, thickly endowed, showing all. The opening scene is my favorite part. The entry into earth’s atmosphere. Attached clip doesn’t do it justice. Also the scene when his companion sees him in alien form.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDsKB8MMIEY

Edit: Full length movie here, with opening ‘entry’ scene. Spectacular.

God I so love that movie. I went to a terrifying Bowie “tribute” screening at the Castro soon after he died. It was fucking horrible. Took hours to get to the actual movie; we left before the movie even started: hours of shitty video montages, and the special appearance by Candy just went on and on, because the idiot producer of the fiasco kept asking her inane questions. This after EFG-list shitty drag queens pranced to song after song after song that They Did Not Even Know.

We were up in the balcony and I was making rather loudish but innocuous snide comments a la “Come on. Just show us the movie.” And the glares I got? It was weird.

Only one tribute performer saved the show. Kitten on the Keys. Can’t believe she had the balls/vag to sing his last song so soon after. Tuux, you might like this. She’s vaudeville good!

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YKsaanVd3E

          • TuuxKabin

She IS GOOD! I’d of probably joined you in the comments. Comments from the peanut gallery should be listened to. Kitten on the Piano, yes! Thanks!

I love that movie too, even tho it’s ‘all over the place’. Nicholas Roeg’s cinematographers are great, IMHO. That Candy actress sucked a big one tho. Buck Henry was good and Rip Torn I like. David Bowie, well, he does/did no wrong. Still so odd to refer to him in the past tense.

          • StraightGrandmother

            Yeah, they are, real people.

          • TuuxKabin

I’m indifferent and they’re cool with that. El husbian has such a mellow vibe, he’s almost rotten, they look at him and grin, go into a relaxed mode and all’s well. Same with friends’ pets, and dogs we encounter on the street. That sweet, cute, Irish boy from the Bronx.

          • Bruno

The number of women in that photo makes me sad.

          • RoFaWh

That poster is sad evidence that brainwashing works.

Trump is about as religious as the typical JMG regular; which is to day, not at all. Yet “Thank you, Jesus”????

It’s just about enough to make one jump in front of the next oncoming bus.

PS: looking at that photo, I have to wonder if it’s staged with hired actors in the scene. Reminds me of propaganda about Stalin as the father of the country.

          • NancyP

Thank You, Jesus, for this selfie with a Celebrity….

          • guest

This is a Photoshop and it was not even Trump in the original, but some religious idiot.

          • John30013

Got any evidence to back that up, Guest?

          • TuuxKabin

Looking closer, it does appear to be drumpf pasted onto the foreground, and the sign as well.

          • Acronym Jim

The first iteration isn’t photoshopped, but I’m pretty sure the second one was. 🙂

Well, since it was here as a photo, the original months to a year ago, I guess you could Google it and ind that thread. Not really my responsibility to prove something to you. If you disagree, then it would be your responsibility to prove me wrong.

Any long term person here should remember that photo well before Trump even started running for President. I think it was a NOM audience, and that women was also then used in several other Photoshop photos like the other one posted.

Got any evidence to prove me wrong?

          • Acronym Jim
          • Bruno

Well, at least it’s in Alabama. Maybe there’s hope outside the deep South.

          • guest

Yes it is. The daily Caller is hardly a source of facts. Do you believe everything on the Internet.

I love how people point out that trump was inserted and you stick your fingers in your ears and eyes.

Are you a closeted Republican, ignoring facts? LOL

          • Acronym Jim

Would you prefer the Washington Post?

            https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/08/24/breaking-down-this-amazing-donald-trump-picture-from-his-alabama-rally/

Or, maybe you should just contact Mark Wallheiser, the photographer who took the image. I’m sure he would be happy to hear that he faked the photo.

Are you a troll? Inserting doubt?

            There’s no doubt about that.

          • guest

You are the troll here, copying and pasting the same thing.

Will review this when I get back, and if true, will admit as such, but it was still here, a featured thread, and not that photo.

And see, you actually had to do some work, but it was not that hard, was it?

Now, I wonder how many times you will post the same link again?

          • John30013

You made the assertion, so it’s on you to prove it (that’s generally how we do things in this country).

          • guest

Believe it or not, that image is a Photoshop oif Trump with that audience. If you disagree, then prove me wrong, as with a long standing tradition on JMG.

          • Acronym Jim
          • guest

Again, with the trolling. I guess when you refuse to actually work for something, that is all you have.

          • John30013

I never said I disagreed with you. But that photo has appeared several times on JMG, and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone say that it’s a fake. Frankly, I have no idea how I’d go about Googling it. Since you asserted it’s a fake, I figured you had some source for that assertion (unless you are the source of the image), so I asked for that source. So far you’ve been unwilling or unable to provide it, or even to say how you came by this “fact”.

I’ve zoomed in fairly closely on the image (although its low resolution makes doing so problematic) and I don’t see any tell-tale artifacts of an amateur Photoshop job. The lighting appears consistent between Trump and the others in the photo, and both the sign and the woman’s pink hat mention Trump.

I’m not opposed to the idea that it’s a fake, but if so it’s a very good one. And my main point still stands that you can’t seem to provide any source to back you up.

          • Acronym Jim
          • guest

Copy and paste this everywhere? Bill
Perdue, is that you? You sure do seem to want to plant your flag in a weird place, making an accusation and then refusing to back it up. How many others have to agree it is not a real image?

          • guest

And for the record, the actual trolling behavior is your posting the same link everywhere. You meet the actual definition of a troll, not the standard troll charged used here for everything, even if one does not like a response, like now.

          • guest

That photo has been posted here, and the orgional was even the topic of a thread about a year ago.

Google JMG or look in the archives. It is not my responsibility to spend the time to make you happy. You made the challenge, and per tradition here, prove it.

i am pretty certain that it was a thread of NOM, and again, about a year ago, so start there.

          • Acronym Jim

I provided a couple of sources that definitively prove him wrong. He’s a troll who isn’t interested in facts. Ignore him.

          • guest

You maybe proved it with 1 source, and will review when I get back. That said, your behavior is of a troll, a Bill Perdue troll.

First you cry about having to work, then actually do work, all while copying and pasting, Bill style.

          • Ernest Endevor

Here’s Chris Ciliiza on the topic. Seems like it’s real and id from an Alabama rally.

          • popebuck1

The evangelicals are known to be susceptible to someone charismatic*, saying things with absolute certainty.

*Which I don’t mean as a compliment! It just means that when they talk, people want to listen to them, for whatever reason. People apparently find the Kardashians charismatic too – don’t ask me why it lands on some people and not others. It drives me crazy when people accuse me of, say, “defending Hitler” just by pointing out that, yes, he was a charismatic speaker to the Germans of his time, which was the only reason he was able to get anywhere. Trump is a God-awful public speaker by just about any measure, but for some reason he has captured the imagination of this one big segment of the population. That isn’t skill, and it certainly doesn’t equate to actual political knowledge – it’s just charisma, nothing more, nothing less.

          • John30013

He’s “captured the imagination” of white working class males who see their historic privilege slipping from their grasp; who once were able to coast by on a high school (or less) education but increasingly find their low-skill jobs offshored or replaced by automation; who, despite their low educational attainment, could claim the top spot on the social food chain solely by dint of their white, (cis-) male, christianism; who are now are on the waning end of demographic, social, and business trends and don’t know how to cope with their loss.

Trump gives voice to their fears. He doesn’t offer to help them, he just channels their fear and anger and echoes it back at them. In a way he legitimizes their feelings and makes them socially acceptable (or at least socially announced and acknowledged).

Trump has no real solutions to offer–no vocational retraining, no real hope; only a promise to make *them* great again by putting down the “other” people who have taken their birthright from them. For them and for Trump, it’s a zero-sum game; they can’t win unless someone else loses.

          • popebuck1

Sorry I can only upvote this once. That’s the best summary of Trump’s appeal I’ve heard yet.

They’re speaking styles are similar. Very loud, a barrage of words. Some people for whatever reason find this to be compelling. I suspect that they’re impressed with the obvious anger on display because it reflects their own. The anger is in fact the real message, not the policies (such as they are) and not even the insults which are there simply because they express anger.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I keep wanting to say to people who love Trump “Hating on other people won’t make your house bigger, your car newer or your bank account bigger. You just make the 1% laugh at your ass while they continue picking your pockets.”

The truth is he is scared to debate President H Clinton and so has to undermine the process. What’s really scary though is that if he was elected would he put off major decision making in a crisis because it won’t get the best headlines? Oh I can’t talk about the latest international crisis because people might be watching the superbowl and not me.

      • another_steve

“The truth is he is scared to debate President H Clinton and so has to undermine the process.”

He’s setting the stage for his refusal to debate her.

Trump’s handlers must surely know what a debacle a debate would be for him. He’d demean Clinton (he can’t help it, that’s the way he is), thereby playing into the “sexism thing” they fear. Plus, on foreign affairs he’d come away looking totally ignorant (which he is).

Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, for cryin’ out loud.

        • canoebum

Not debating is a debacle too, so he’s screwed either way. The fool is way out of his depth, and he knows it.

Yeah, after all, Presidential debates every election cycle is only barely 40 years old.

I know there’s the Kennedy-Nixon debate of 1960, but there were no debates in 1964, 1968, and 1972.

If Trump doesn’t show up, then Hillary should show up and make her version of the “empty chair” speech and make first debate an extended interview. Seeing the debacle, Trump will attend the next one unprepared, making him easy prey for Hillary.

          • Galvestonian

well… you just damn well know that the backdrop will be the wrong color, the podium will either be the wrong wood or the wrong color, the lighting will be completely wrong, his make up people will be horrible and incompetent, The air conditioning won’t be right. Who the hell catered this event. He’ll claim that he’s surrounded by the evil media who plan on distorting his words. He just won’t/can’t debate under thoise conditions. The Democrats/Muslims/Afro-Americans/ Mexicans/Catholics planned it that way.

          • another_steve

I agree. It’s hard to see how refusing to debate Clinton would be a net plus for Trump.

I’m thinking that of the two bad options facing him — debating her and coming off as uninformed and sexist, or not debating her and turning off some of his supporters — he’d opt for not debating her.

But who can really tell what this thug will do.

          • Randy Ellicott

Well he doesn’t care that he sounds stupid if he fails in the debates (if…LOL!) it won’t matter to his base of racist sexist bigots, but if he skips them he will be depriving his followers of the one thing they think he does well, entertainment.

I have to imagine at least a few of his supporters will think twice about him chickening out of debates. Most of them will go with his b.s. excuses though, true.

        • olandp

They won’t think about it at all, they don’t think.

          • Robincho

            because can’t…

  • Do Something Nice

Ah, Trump is wearing his victimhoodie again. And again, he sounds like an idiot.

    #Trumptanic

  • geoffalnutt

“Trumpelthinskin” doesn’t debate. He can’t. He knows nothing. This should be very interesting, indeed.

    • ColdCountry

But he, and his followers, will feel as though he wins every debate, and as the Newt said, it’s the feelz that matter.

    • Jason

“Trupmelthinskin” – going to have to remember that one. Perfect

  • JT
    • Halou

I feel bad for whoever devoted so much time and effort to drawing that.

    • lymis

That is offensive, unrealistic, and completely inaccurate.

      He should be more orange.

      • Homo Erectus

        Like this?

      • DoctorDJ

And his hands aren’t that big.

  • JustSayin’

Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch….cant win so you whine…

  • Chucktech

He should hope people tune into the games instead of watching what promises to be his public mortification.

  • joe ho

He’ll find some way to refuse to debate. Just like releasing the tax returns.

    • OdieDenCO

he could self commit to a mental health facility. Then he could claim his brain is being audited and he’ll release it when they are done.

  • Herald

Y’all knew he was going to invent some way to get out of them. There is no way he wants to be on the same stage with a smart capable woman like Hillary. I am sure he knows what she did to the Repubs in DC. This is just the start of that show.

    • Lakeview Bob

      Agree

    • Homo Erectus

Donald has never run for or held the office of Dogcatcher. You can’t expect him to understand how these things work.

      • John30013

Unfortunately, many of his supporters see his utter ignorance as a plus….

        • Michael Abbett

They think intelligence in others has put them in the place they are at now, not their own lack of it, but they can’t be angry at themselves.

          • TuuxKabin

Succinct. Thank you. Another excellent talking point.

  • Corsair Tact

What if a debate is held and he doesn’t show? Then Hillary can talk to the empty podium and get grilled by the moderators. Brilliant!

    • Halou

She can Clint Eastwood the hell out of Donald Trump.

    • Lazycrockett

It will be interesting cause I think the networks have to give each candidate the same amount of air time, so even if Drumpf doesn’t show up for the debate and it turns into a town hall later Drumpf can demand equal air time. Plus cable will be more than happy to take his calls through out the cycle.

      • Halou

Just point the camera at his podium for that amount of time and if he’s not there that’s his problem. But you just know he’s going to hold a press conference to coincide with the debates and the media is going to forget the scheduled events and eat whatever shit he spits out of his mouth.

      • OdieDenCO

I think not. Drumpf was offered the time, if he chooses not to use it, end of story. You don’t get do overs.

      • lymis

No, not really. They have to give the same amount of non-news time to each candidate. News reports wouldn’t count, and I don’t think public debates that the candidate chooses not to attend count either.

        From wikipedia:
“There are four exceptions to the equal-time rule. If the airing was within a documentary, bona fide news interview, scheduled newscast or an on-the-spot news event, the equal-time rule does not apply. Since 1983, political debates not hosted by the media station are considered “news events,” and as a result, are not subject to the rule. Consequently, these debates may include only major-party candidates without having to offer air time to minor-party or independent candidates. Talk shows and other regular news programming from syndicators, such as Entertainment Tonight, are also declared exempt from the rule by the FCC on a case-by-case basis.[2]”
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule

However, they could still hold the debate, and, in a delightful win-win situation, toast Trump’s whiney ass, by simply inviting all four candidates, and if Trump sits it out, let Hillary debate Green and Johnson. Her views will be aired. His will be mocked. Win win.

Or, even more deliciously, they could “include” him by periodically reading his childish tweets at intervals during the discussion among the grown-ups.

    • canoebum

I predict a “golf course emergency” which demands his personal intervention.

  • Gigi

What’s Drumpf worried about? He’s such a YUUUUUGE talent. Why would anyone want to watch an NFL game when they could tune in to see Hillary kick his ass?

  • Lakeview Bob

Come on everyone. This is obvious. He is setting this up to get out of the debates that he knows he will lose. This is all part of The Great Con Known as tRUMP.

  • Ernest Endevor

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times, methamphetamines and twitter don’t mix.

  • Halou

Bailing out of any debates in case he defaults to speaking Russian?
Or perhaps it is that he is scared of turning up to the VP debate by mistake? Since he is very much set on riding Putin’s shotgun seat, it’s an easy mistake to make.

  • Treant

Honestly, Li’l Donnie, we get it. You’d rather Tweet because she’ll destroy your ass in a debate.

    You, every 10 minutes:

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

He is one of the most laziest men I have ever seen.

  • Bankrupt Donnie is afraid to debate Hillary Clinton. SAD!

    • Lantor

      He’s a baby. He’s a dumb dumb.

  • word

The Donald already has appointments on those days to have his hair worked on at a Bosley clinic. His ‘do’ is more important than being President.
Everyone knows that Americans would never vote for a bald Republican.

    • Hue-Man

      Never!

  • BudClark

We all know the real reason: Donnie’s mama won’t let him stay up that late. As for his ‘cannon’, didn’t Megyn Kelly describe it as “smaller than a squirt gun”?

    • Bruno

However big or small, he’s apparently lost it.

    • TuuxKabin

good to see you back and read your comment!

  • SFBruce

Like many, I think he’s just starting to build a case for reneging on the debates. The last GOP primary debate included Cruz, Rubio and Kasich besides Trump, but on September 26, it will just be Trump and Clinton, facing questions for a whole 90 minutes. The fact that Trump is nervous as hell shows he might be slightly smarter than I thought.

  • William

Rick Perry never debated when he was running for governor. There was always an excuse as to why his opponent was to blame. Rick must have a position in the Trump camp

    • Talisman

Does being bent over in the back room count as a “position”?

    • Bruno

And he still won. But Texas is a lost cause until the demographics change more.

  • Reginald Thorkinson

Very kind of CNN to correct his quote by misquoting him.

    http://i.ytimg.com/vi/PYt_bMCFWcE/0.jpg

    • medaka

      Good catch. Fucking fuckers.

    • ggg

Trump just takes every criticism of him and lobs it at Hillary to “even out” and muddy the field. He just takes his weak points, and accuses Hillary of them. Simple minds have a simple strategy, but you can’t run a country that way.

      • ggg

She was Secretary of State!!!!! She has already proven herself in this arena! She is not some untested fraudulent goob with no experience!!! Trump, do not try to put yourself on equal standing with Hillary, because you are not even close!!

      • Bruno

Haven’t you ever heard of the “I know you are, but what am I?” method in politics?

        • ggg

Ha ha! Great point . . . that’s exactly it!

    • Annie Coffman

Now classic in the dump for Trump CNN.

  • DaddyRay

So if the Debate schedule was created in September of laster year by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates and the NFL schedule was created this past spring for the upcoming season – how exactly would the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates been expected to know when the NFL game were going to be played?

    • tominsf

Doesn’t that mean that the NFL is conspiring against Trump?

      • DaddyRay

        Drumpf Deflategate

      • Ernest Endevor

I think you’ve put your finger on it. (as the bishop said to the actress.)

    • medaka

      Are you being….

    • Reality.Bites

Well they might not know what teams were playing, but it’s established that the NFL always has a nationally televised game on Sunday and Monday nights during their regular season.

Major League Baseball playoffs start Oct. 4.

    • Homo Erectus

At least they weren’t scheduled opposite a NASCAR event.

      • DaddyRay

But there may be a new Blue Bloods episode

    • Blake Jordan

Just like FLOTUS travelled back in time to give herself Melania’s 2016 speech…

The Democrats travelled back in time to set the debate schedule, when they knew NFL games would be on at the same time…

    • Niblet58

The thing is, every one and their aunt knows the NFL plays football on Monday nights and almost all day Sunday with Thursday games thrown in for good measure every so often. I mean it is grade level 4 stupid of the RNC and DNC to schedule presidential debates on Mondays during the fall.

      • lymis

Because football is more important than the presidential election, and nobody in the country has a video recording device or access to the internet.

  • Ernest Endevor

I don’t understand why having a debate at the same time as a Sportsball event is a problem.

    • DaddyRay

Because Trump demographics include a good amount of men with head injuries

      • Ernest Endevor

        LOL.

      • medaka

        Touche! 🙂

      • Halou

Surely you mean head injuries that just so happen to have people attached to them?

    • Blake Jordan

This is all about attention, he does not want to entertain opposite a guaranteed ratings hog like a NFL game…

      • Annie Coffman

        Exactly.

    • MikeBx2

Because Trump voters are still trying to figure out how to record a program with that VCR they bought in 1992.

  • Todd

Unbelievable ………. does this man not have anyone on his team to explain how these things are planned ? And by whom ??? Embarrassing.

    • Steverino

      Sad!

      • TuuxKabin

As children in the neighborhood like to shout out when they hear a funny . . . Hillaryous. Precocious lil’ things. I wonder where they got it from.

    • Daveed_WOW

Don’t mistake him for a clueless oaf. He knows exactly what he’s doing. His idiot followers love him for showing what a “petulant idiot” he is. It’s not quite an act, but it’s not an accident either. He’s a narcissist and his followers feel like they are looking in the mirror. We’re down the rabbit hole, people. For my next post, I’ll discuss the glass slipper and Rapunzel’s hair.

      • TuuxKabin

Can you post it for a bed time story? That description is really a good talking point about his drumpfness.

    • Homo Erectus

Nobody explained that Hillary’s VP isn’t an ex-NJ governor.

      • canoebum

He’s surrounded by only the best people, the very best.

  • margaretpoa

This is just Trump trying to weasel out of debating her. He knows he can’t win.

  • Halou

In other Trump related news, Zimbabwe’s 90+ year old dictator Robert Mugabe has endorsed the Republican nominee. This is the same dictator who is responsible for turning Africa’s bread basket into a food importing basket case through insane economic policies. Apparently him and Trump are of the same mold.

Typical of all Trump endorsing dictators Mugabe couldn’t help but take a shot at America’s human rights concerns in the country and implicitly threaten diplomats in the country, “Once [Trump] is your president, you’ll wish you’d been friendlier to me”.

  • Stephen Elliot Phillips

narcissistic coward and traitor. And he is expecting his loan sharks in russia to screw hillarys chances for him.
Republicans you own this creatin lock stock and smoking barrels.

  • Gustav2

So let me understand this. The debate schedule is negotiatiated with both candidates and the one who promotes himself as “The Great Negotiator” is losing?

  • Homo Erectus

Donald is losing to a girl!!!

    • ggg

Anyone who tweets should really get a lot of tweets out there that Donald is AFRAID to debate Hillary, because he knows he will LOSE. We can’t let him get away with squirming out of the debates!! What’s wrong Donald? Afraid you’ll LOSE???

      • ggg

Hi needs to be humiliated for his lack of knowledge even though it won’t affect his “fans” either way. It needs to go down in the history books with video clips and quotes.

  • Bruno

I suppose bad spelling isn’t gonna turn off any tRump voters.

    • ggg

That makes them more comfortable because he is “one of them”, not one of the “elite” who care about “spelling”

      • Bruno

Exactly. Pretty much when your average supporter hates everything else in the world but their family and you (and maybe Dog), you’ve got them locked up.

  • Acronym Jim

It would be hilarious if we discover it was the Republican members of the Commission who, in an effort of damage control, recommended that the debates be scheduled opposite NFL games.

    • Gustav2

It would be a good thing if his base didn’t watch.

      • DaddyRay

Not to worry – if Trump isn’t doing well Fox will cut away to play a Benghazi / Hillary attack ad

    • ggg

      That’s genius!!! Probably true!

  • greenmanTN

It’s a damn good thing I don’t have a parrot, because the newest phrase it would learn is “You’ve gotta be shitting me!”

  • SoCalGal20

He should be thrilled there are football games during the debates (questioning the debate schedulers who KNOW there are always Sunday and Monday NFL games btw). Fewer people to watch Hillary humiliate him on live tv.

    • Bruno

He must not think much of his teabaggers if he thinks they’ll tune him out in favor of a bunch of large men pounding each other.

      • Joseph Miceli

Funny, I would tune the Donald out in favor of a bunch of large men pounding each other too. I have to go check my hair in the mirror now. It better not have changed to a blond comb over.

      • Ben in Oakland

        I certainly would!

Ryan Reynolds pounding on Ryan gosling with Ryan seacrest teabagging……

        Ummm….what were we talking about?

        Ryna! Ryan! Ryan!

    • Joseph Miceli

You are correct. The more people who see him flounder the more it hurts him. He’s just looking for a reason not to debate at all.

      • SoCalGal20

I’m a little surprised with his ego being what it is that he doesn’t think he’s the best debater. Maybe he’s just mad the NFL will take away from his ratings lol. Regardless, Hillary will surgically remove his balls, have them faux gold-plated and returned to Drumpf as a parting gift if he does, in fact, debate her. I look forward to seeing how this plays out.

        • Joseph Miceli

Yes, watching her geld him is going to be one of the top delights of this life! That and the death of Pat Robertson. I’m looking forward to both of them.

          • TampaDink

Won’t that process require a microscope?

          • Joseph Miceli

And attention to detail. Teeny, tiny, finicky little details.

          • UrsusArctos

I want a trifecta – Trump, Robertson, Perkins. Who says good things don’t come in 3s?

          • Joseph Miceli

Well, everything else has been going our way…why the hell not! Dare to dream!!!

  • Yixing’s Fluffer

    Hahahahahahahaha

This little man baby should be grateful there will be fewer people to watch him eviscerated on live television. But, of course, to do that he’d need to know what a fool he is.

    • canoebum

It won’t be a simple evisceration…more like seppuku. Remember “Proceed, Governor”?

  • Mark Neé Fuzz

At this point we should be inured to it, but his ignorance continues to astound. Did he really think Hillary and the DNC would unilaterally determine the debate schedule, or that they’d do so by jotting it down on a napkin beteween speeches on Day 4?

    • medaka

Plus you said “inured.” That’s FTW.

    • Gustav2

He is just trying to appropriate the unhappy Bernie holdout’s language where everything is “disenfranchising” his voters.

    • Talisman

The moment you realize that you’re insured, you’ll know you need to register as a Republican.

  • bambinoitaliano

He’s already making excuses to avoid a debate unless it’s on twitter.

  • DaddyRay

Trump will have a problem with any debate day ending in “Y”

    • Bruno

And any start time that begins with the hour 1-12.

      • Card

Just schedule them in military time–I mean, he got more military experience in school than those Joint Chiefs of Staff guys or Vietnam vets, right?

        • Bruno

Well I’m sure his time in posh European lands hobnobbing with the rich and famous got him used to military time.

  • Rebecca Gardner

    Speaking of stupid fucking “morans”…
    https://twitter.com/BikerBecca/status/759420746733015040

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’m sure Trump will claim that during a debate.

    • DaddyRay

Simply getting an early start on rewriting history of the Obama years

    • Joseph Miceli

Here in stupid fucking Louisiana, 40 percent of those polled blamed Obama for the failed Katrina response.
      Sigh.
….and they wonder why I drink.

      • Rebecca Gardner

I bet there are folks in this country that blame Obama for the Nazi concentration camps.

        • Joseph Miceli

Close. They blame him for the FEMA camps that never were. Frankly, I do too. I’m still disappointed I never made it onto a death panel.

        • TampaDink

“And that is exactly what he deserves for starting WWII to begin with!”

      • John T

Ah Louisiana, the place where David Duke is a genuinely viable political candidate.

        • Joseph Miceli

Sigh. Well, we have great food…..would you like that roast beef Po-Boy with a side of racism?

      • Bruno

The word Obama coupled with any of “fault” or “blame” will get that response from those racist shits to any question.

      • Haha yes, they do. These people are Bryan Brown grade stupid.

      • coram nobis

        Yes, QED your point.

        http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/21/obama-hurricane-katrina_n_3790612.html

So, Bush gets bin Laden two years after leaving the presidency, but Obama bungles the response to Katrina when it hit four years before he enters the White House. Seems to be a rip in the time-space continuum or something.

        • Kruhn

Obama asked the Gay Council for our secret Space Time Distortion Widget. Didn’t you get the Memo?

        • Joseph Miceli

I’d call for Dr. Who, but I don’t think he visits anywhere this stupid.

  • Blake Jordan
    • Traxley Launderette

      Fingers crossed.

    • Bruno

Given their track record, though recent, I have no reason to believe it’s hugely inaccurate. I’ll expect to see a lower margin from the other pollsters (like CNN) who had tRump ahead in recent polls.

  • Paige Turner

I cant wait for Hillary to goad him into bringing up Monica Lewinski and for her to have a mature, adult response that puts him back in his box. Either that or she brings it up first.

Her advisors must be having a field day preparing her for debates with him. I cant imagine Donald taking advice from anyone.

    • Joseph Miceli

Don’t be silly! The Donald has the best advisor…himself! After all, he has “a very good brain.” What else do you need to tackle Hillary.
(I had to laugh out loud at that one. Donald vs. Hillary….seriously, I’m coughing now from laughing as I type!)

      • DoctorDJ

Like an adult talking to a 4 year old.

        • Joseph Miceli

Kind of like when I have a dialog with Bill Perdue, aka “Trolita.”

      • Paige Turner

I agree. I cant see it happening.

  • Rebecca Gardner

Sir, our troops are pinned down and need immediate air support or they will surely all die!!!!

There are NFL games on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night. There are college football games on Saturday night. Friday night is a no-go for obvious reasons. There are Major League Baseball playoff games on most days in the month of October.

It’s obvious what he is doing here. He is setting a standard that eliminates every day on the calendar. He doesn’t want to debate.

    • Adam

well, who would with his lack of debating skills?

    • Bruno

I’ve always said it’s his better course of action. Sure, it’ll sink him in the presidential race too, but at least he may come out not having looked like the complete imbecile he actually is.

  • By the time we get to Nov, there won’t be anything left to the Don, he will have melted all away (at this rate).

  • Ninja0980

We all saw this coming didn’t we?

  • olandp

I’ve been saying for months that there will be no debates, Don the Con won’t stand on a stage with Hillary for love nor money. I’ve also said he will blame Hillary for his no-show.

    • DJ John Bear

Isn’t it more or less mandatory to participate in the debates?

      • TuuxKabin

This would, I think, be a first non-debate campaign. Then, of course, nothing is mandatory to drumpf but drumpf.

        • thatotherjean

Neither LBJ or Nixon debated anyone when they ran for President, but everyone has, since then.

      • Kruhn

No, but you have to go to 1972 when there were no Presidential debates.

    • lymis

He’ll say that all of the (then) media coverage of his continuing refusal to release his tax returns makes a fair debate impossible. Unfair media!

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskan_Village

  • So Trump is going to do abysmally in the debates because people like football? Or is he just going to be distracted because he’d rather be home watching the game?

He’s actually going to be home watching the game.

  • KCMC

OT: Kobach voting restrictions struck down yesterday. All KS-ans are able to now vote!

Agreed. Local economist reviewed KS credit downgrade announced in past week. And one projected financial sinkhole worse and deeper in 2018. Education and child welfare so sad. Social services abysmal following cuts/privatization, children dying in care unthinkable.

OT but a respite from Drumpfen ugliness.

British actor Tom Hiddleston has been named the male celebrity with the best tush in a recent poll in the UK.

I’d certainly cast my vote in his ballot box.

  • IamM

Uh-huh. Who do we know who’s a loose cannon with extraordinarily bad judgment & poor instincts and currently scamming the Republicans for publicity and donations running against Clinton?

  • Pat Padrnos

I just recently learned of your site from Immoral Minority. Have been checking in with you every day since then. I very much appreciate the work you are doing. Thanks.

    • TuuxKabin

You come here with impeccable references. Welcome.

      • Pat Padrnos

Silly as it may sound – your comment brought tears to my eyes!! You are a powerful force!!

        • TuuxKabin

          Igualmente. Thank you, Pat.

I learned that expression when at a friend’s birthday party. In the peoples’ republic of Bezerkeley, California.

I was new to most of her circle of friends, a suspected demagogue from NYC, tho native of the East Bay. They were all UCBezerkeley personnel and some academia. That friend approached me, looked me up and down and asked in an icy tone: “and how do you know Carol?”

I answered, truthfully, “we met at our first anti-war demonstration in SF, in 1967”. “Impeccable references”. Was her reply. The expression stuck with me, and it felt appropriate to use it with you.

I think you’ll find a good bunch here. Great senses of humor, keen perspectives and a treasure drove of information, mature and wise.

          Again. Welcome.

  • Dean Cameron

Now, I would think a “Loose Cannon” would need to be thoroughly briefed before the Debate.
Of course, some Loose Cannons get really, really bored during long meetings. Especially if they’re missing TV Time!

Too much democracy, Trump? Why don’t you whine about it to Putin and your illegal foreign donors?

  • WIGuy

well, not like anyone will watch Atlanta vs New Orleans…Just the GB vs NYG will be a real conflict.

    • Steve Teeter

Well I’ll watch Atlanta vs New Orleans. I’ll be in Good Friends bar in the French Quarter watching it with other gay sports fans and toasting every touchdown with schnapps. But if there IS a debate, I’ll also be recording it on my DVR at home so I can watch every minute of it when I get back. Several times, if Hillary really mops the floor with him.

      • Johnny Wyeknot

        Have fun with both!

  • Max_1

Trimp kant spill wull… Mayb he Jan go two univer… Univarsi… Universaty… Skol whear hims Melawkneeah wunt too. To.

    • UrsusArctos

Trump U alumni are the BEST people! Ask him! He apparently went there after Wharton ran him off after a couple of terms.

  • He’ll do anything to avoid a head-to-head with Clinton, while blaming everyone else.

If I were the Clinton campaign, there would be a lot of comments get out right now about the “ball-less wonder.”

    • Kruhn

I’d actually buy buses cover them with the words “Donald Trump is Afraid of a Woman” strategically deploy them through the country record taunting messages that Trump is too chicken to debate and shadow every one of his events. Goad him into debating.

  • seant426

A five year old would behave more maturely.

  • EdA

That’s funny. Tax-cheat Trump tried to take credit for arranging the RNC to be in Cleveland, a decision made — by the RNC — many many months before the piece of trump announced his candidacy.

    • ggg

Tax-Cheat Trump is a great and catchy nickname!! Hope it catches on!!

      • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

#TaxCheatTrump is a good hash tag.

  • JaniceInToronto

Donald, you are a stupid fuck.

Oh my, there I go being all strident again. Sorry…

    • KnownDonorDad

The Scots beat you to it.

      • Johnny Wyeknot

        Ouch! 😉

  • sherman

Trump is a vile piece of garbage. It’s embarrassing that millions of people think it is qualified to lead this country.

“In his first response to a searing charge from bereaved Army father Khizr Khan that he’d “sacrificed nothing” for his country, Donald Trump claimed that he had in fact sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” He also suggested that Khan’s wife didn’t speak because she was forbidden to as a Muslim and questioned whether Khan’s words were his own.”

FYI, Khan spoke without notes, or even a prepared speech.

    https://twitter.com/GStephanopoulos/status/759428631223558152

    • ggg

How is getting rich by employing other people a “sacrifice”? Are all business owners making a sacrifice to the country? Sorry if this was not his implication . . . I could not bear to actually listen to him . . .

      • Talisman

        They sacrifice their humanity.

        • ggg

lol!! but sadly true in many cases

    • Max_1

Yes, he sacrificed his first two wives…
Yes, he sacrificed his many casinos…
Yes, he sacrificed his T.V. carrier…

And he’s willing to sacrifice America, too…
      ALL FOR PERSONAL GAIN!

      • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

Indeed! With this definition of sacrifice:

        • He sacrificed local businesses by not paying them.
        • He sacrificed people who lost money in Trump university.
        • He sacrificed lenders by filing bankruptcies.

All as an offering to himself.
        .

  • TuuxKabin

Latest in my in box from KOS, “Drumpf disowns convention he planned”. There is a part that’s just not very well screwed on with this man. I didn’t much think he’s sabotaging himself with the run, but I’m beginning to change my mind.

  • WiMountainBear

Debate during a Packer Game? Wisconsin won’t be watching….

    • lymis

      Like nobody has a DVR.

  • BobSF_94117

I assume he wants all three scheduled against football games.

  • WICKET99

A little off topic, but you might want to sign this petition. http://act.credoaction.com/sign/trump_briefings/

Just joined twitter to answer (I will try to limit the tweets, but this is too rich.) Trying to embed… be patient if I mess up.

@realDonaldTrump : Release your tax returns before the debates. Nixon's tax returns were being audited and he released them. What ru hiding?— Claude J Bonhomme (@ClaudeJBonhomme) July 30, 2016

      • Johnny Wyeknot

Haha! It is tempting to join the Twitterverse. Especially good for one-line zingers!

  • Talisman
  • bbayliss

I was wrong!!! I thought he’d try to get out of the debates using “they won’t treat me fairly”…Looks like he’ll go for scheduling conflicts.

    • Gianni

He likely will save the “unfair treatment” whine until after the first or second debate. Here’s a grown man with such a childish mentality and attitude and some people find those characteristics to be of presidential caliber. How insane can it get?

      • bbayliss

“How insane can it get?” Is a question that scares me into pooptown.

        • Gianni

Right. It’s an open-ended question. From what we’ve seen so far, the nuttiness and nonsense appears to have no bounds, no controls, no restrictions. Worse still, loyal voters are lapping it up like cats at a saucer of milk.

  • kanehau

Boycott anything with @realDonaldTrump name or stamp on it until he learns to tell the truth! #boycottTrump #Liar #NotPresidentialMaterial— Science Guy (@KaneHau) July 30, 2016

    • lymis

Sorry, I can’t boycott Trump. I wouldn’t have bought, visited, stayed at, or eaten in, anything that had his name on it since well before he started playing tin-plated dictator.

  • kanehau

Everyone is hacking the DNC and Hillary… why has nobody hacked his tax returns?

    • lymis

Because “everyone” is not hacking them. The Russians, who want Trump to beat Hillary, gain nothing from releasing something that makes Trump look bad.

  • anne marie in philly

    what a fucking crybaby!

    • Gianni

Makes one really want to slap him around while screaming, “ACT LIKE A MAN, YOU WIMP!” (and while the cameras are rolling)

      • anne marie in philly

he is a coward, a bully, a loudmouth, a slob, a traitor, a chauvinist pig. certainly NOT worthy of the oval office!

    • Max_1

  • Gianni

“Treated unfairly……”, “rigged” – Time to get a couple of new whiney, crybaby words to highlight how terribly you are treated by everyone else and the world except for your bro, Putin. I hope Hillary baits him so heavily during the debates the he sinks himself with his own out-of-control whining and whimpering about the poor treatment he gets. She can have a field day with him.

  • JerryRich

I have DVR and split screen. There is no impediment to following both the debates and football.

  • James

I’ll be amazed if Trump shows up to any debates. I fully expect him to just say he’s not doing them.

  • BearEyes

    boo-‘effin’-hoo.

  • rednekokie

I really don’t care if the sTRUMP debates Hillary or not. He’s bound to lose whether he debates or not — and, finally, he knows it – and is admitting it — even if in a roundabout way.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

      Let’s hope so.

  • Personally, I predict Trump will play his usual stupid aggression and dominance games to win what he thinks are face-saving/ego-fluffing concessions. However, he’ll be shocked to discover he doesn’t get guaranteed friendly audiences, Clinton will wipe the floor with his $60k hair-weave and he’ll refuse to do any debates after the first one.

  • Tempus Fuggit

Far be it from me to even hint at defending Trump, but I do not think Lin is correct. I see two misspelled words: “insticts” and “lose”. If Lin’s bitching about the first e in “judgement”, he’s wrong; that’s a perfectly valid spelling which some dictionaries—including the OED—prefer.

    • Annie Coffman

“Judgement” is usually the British spelling but you’re correct.

  • infmom

His supporters are going to be watching WWE Smackdown anyway.

    • djcoastermark

And not know the difference either

  • Neely OHara

It’a all moot — Trump won’t debate. He’ll claim it’s “rigged,” he’s not being treated fairly, whatever. There will BE NO DEBATES.

  • coram nobis

And for Billbear, the Cannon in D.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOA-2hl1Vbc

    • Sam_Handwich

or as one bride once said to me “the Taco Bell Canon”

    • Steve Teeter

Harumph. Try to find the recording by Musica Antiqua Köln. They play it at the proper tempo, which is at least twice as fast as this. At that speed it’s actually exciting, not soporific.

      • coram nobis

Yes, although when the piece re-emerged ca. 1970, the first recordings did go for slow tempi.

        • Steve Teeter

          Their mistake.

  • So shut the fuck up and stay home.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

      He will call in.

  • Stubenville

IMHO Hillary should give the Shrieking Cheeto all the rope he needs to hang himself. I suggest that Hillary offer to adjust the debate schedule to what he proposes.

He’ll have a damn hard time refusing that without looking like a jackass.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

He will call her weak and indecisive.

  • Sam_Handwich

Guess what … there will be baseball games, too! During the playoffs, even!

    Muck in or fuck off

  • Robert Adams

Oh, boo hoo hoo. For a tough guy who has all the answers to all the world’s problem, he can’t figure out how to use a “rigged” debate schedule to his advantage?

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

I really want Trump to debate. Why? Because I want more fodder against other GOPers down the ticket to be asked about. “Paul Ryan, do you also think Obama and Hillary are lizard people? Mitch, do you also believe that Melania’s face should be on the dollar bill?”

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

    This is anecdotal but http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/4170093-155/letter-trumps-military-record-speaks-for

“As a retired 30-year Marine Corps reservist who made four trips to Asia as a Marine but missed combat by two weeks, I want my fellow Utah veterans to know that Donald Trump applied for and received five military draft deferments, thereby avoiding any military service.

And now he wants to be commander in chief. A basic rule of American military service is that we are not obligated to obey any illegal order, yet he has said he would issue them, such as torturing prisoners and killing the enemies’ families.

His military record and knowledge stands for itself.”

  • Nic Peterson

His best bet is to skip all of the debates. Under employed white men, Klan members and Bundy-Fundies don’t need no stinking debates.

  • Galvestonian

This moronic loser will do everything in his power to get out of a debate with Hillary ’cause he knows he can’t bullpuckey his way, bluster or bully or throw out vague phrases and cliches. He has to come up with solid well-thought out answers and (unless he’s wired like “W’ was) will (most likely) absolutely fall flat on his face. He just won’t be able to cope.

  • LADY MABELINE

November 9th can’t get here soon enough. What an international embaressment he has made of our presidential politics.

  • RainbowPhoenix

I place 50/50 odds that he makes some excuse and doesn’t even show up like McCain tried to do. I’m probably being too generous.

  • 1Truth1

Trump knows he will look like the completely ignorant idiot that he is during a debate. He’s running scared. He can’t speak on the issues because he doesn’t know the issues. He’s all rhetoric with zero substance.

  • The only thing disheartening about this is that Trump supporters are as clueless as he is. Much of his appeal is his anti-intellectual authoritarian figure approach. I have been fighting Trump / Hitler comparisons in the past but I’m not quite so sure now.

  • Johnny Wyeknot

It seems it would be in his interest to have low viewership for the debates since he will bomb.

  • Marides48

Well, as many of us have speculated, tRump is going to find a way to weasel out of the debates.

  • Queequeg

He’s afraid that Hillary will kick his orange ass, which she will.

  • Hank

Send Pence to the debates! After all, HE is going to be the one to deal with Domestic and Foreign Policy!!! Hair Drumpf would only be an Orange Figurehead!!!

most of the posters here feel that the trumpeter will either not debate HRC or fail miserably at it. I can think of another possibility. His handlers will give him an earphone like gwb and he will parrot the information supplied in order to come off as informed. Of course this won’t stop him from acting like a juvenile moron if he gets angry, but it would look like he knew something about policy.

    • Gianni

Would they risk having that tactic exposed? Likely they wouldn’t care if it was exposed, but that would be somewhat embarrassing, I should think. Of course, embarrassment means absolutely nothing to Trump. He is quite the package. I’m waiting anxiously for the first debate and for him to lose whatever control he tries to maintain and gives Hillary just the right bullshit statement or slip-up and she takes it and whips his ass with it.

  • Michael Angelo III

Donald Trump does not want to win this race. I plan to be the first person at my local polling site to make sure that he does not win but he will continue to pull these stunts to ensure that he turns off enough voters to ensure a Hillary win.

  • wmforr

I guess Donald is just too poor to afford a spell-checker.
