Pastor Kevin Swanson Calls For Executing Gays At Event Attended By GOP Candidates [VIDEO]

“There are instances in which both the Old and New Testament speak to the matter with unbelievable clarity. You know what that sin is – it’s the sin of homosexuality. In fact in Romans 1 Paul affirms that this particular sin is worthy of death. The Old and New Testament, I believe both speak with authority and we outta receive it.” – Pastor Kevin Swanson, speaking today at his “religious liberty convention” where Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, and Bobby Jindal were interviewed on the stage by Swanson.

But wait there’s more:

“There are families, we’re talking Christian families, pastors’ families, elders’ families from good, godly churches,” Swanson said, “whose sons are rebelling, hanging out with homosexuals and getting married and the parents are invited. What would you do if that was the case? Here is what I would do: sackcloth and ashes at the entrance to the church and I’d sit in cow manure and I’d spread it all over my body. That is what I would do and I’m not kidding, I’m not laughing.” “I’m grieving, I’m mourning, I’m pointing out the problem,” Swanson screamed as he went off about people trying to “carve happy faces on the sores” of a society that is utterly “messed up.”

The second clip is almost more outrageous than the call for murdering you.

Yes, right into next week, if not completely out of the universe.

    Well he seems nice.

Reform Judaism is passing a measure in support of transgender people and their rights.

        • marshlc

Yeah, noticed that this morning. And in the comments section I read, the most negative comments were from people saying things like “Why should we have to say this? Shouldn’t it be self evident?” which is not exactly negative. Love it.

  • William

Don’t let me get in your way, go roll in all the manure you want.

    • Billanddogs

There’s a lot of it coming out of his mouth, so the supply will be unlimited.

      • HadenoughBS

Is that what you’d call a self-fulfilling prophecy?

    • Tallulah

If I were to invite my friends to my wedding and promise them that a crazy preacher was going to roll in manure, I’d have packed house!

      • William

Two shows for the price of one! Be sure to put me on the invite list.

      • Gustav2

HA! You could sell tickets for HIS show and pay for the wedding!

        • OdieDenCO

Yep, one use to have to pay good money to see that kind of act at the circus side show.

          • Booney

Sounds like someone is very uncomfortable about homosexuality. Clearly he’s been thinking about this subject quite a bit. Usually when someone is that uncomfortable and passionate about something, it’s because they’re trying to talk themselves out of something they feel. It’s OK to be gay pastor Swanson. The sooner you come out, the more free you will be.

      • Socrates15

Be sure to provide your guests with gas masks!

      • Ginger Snap

Step right up and see a crazy christian covered in cow shit. Standing room only next week at Tallulah’s wedding.

        • Snarkaholic

That sounds like Maggie’s Family Reunion.

      • McSwagg

You could hand out little baggies of turds to the attendees so that they could throw them at the ‘protesting preacher’. Fun for all.

      • Christopher

Tell your friends that you’re gonna have a “Donkey Show”. When they show up, point out the jackass in the corner covered in shit.

After everyone has had their turn making fun of him, call the men in white coats, they have jackets that make you hug yourself, and they’ll take him away.

Everyone got a free show, your gift to them, and now we can move on to the open bar at the reception. There is an open bar, right? I’m only attending if there’s an open bar.

        😉

      • cleos_mom

In a best-case scenario you could invite two of them and have manure-wrestling as an optional outdoor event at the reception. An imaginative entertainment option for warm-weather nuptials.

    • Steverino

They are full of bullshit, they speak bullshit, so they may as well roll in their own bullshit.

    • JCF

You’re going to roll in manure? Here, let us help:

    Is he on drugs ?

  • Ninja0980

But remember folks, it’s the Muslims in the Middle East who want us dead, while Christians simply don’t want us to have marriage equality.
BULL, they all want us dead and this asshole just admitted as much.
The former is simply doing what the latter can only dream of.
And the next time Fuckabee, Jindal or Cruz talk about how there is bigotry against Christians, this asshole’s words should be thrown in their faces and they should be made to answer if they agree with him or not.
Because he is calling for outright murder against us and if they don’t condemn him, it’s because they agree with him too, simple as that.

    • Wynter Marie Starr

The three asshats do agree with him, Ninja. Do they really have to say it? I know it, you know it, and their base knows it.

    • Ron Robertson

They always seem to imagine we’ll just sit there and let them round us up. I don’t think so.

      • Cattleya1

Maybe he could roll around in the shit with Ted Shoebat?

    • LovesIrony

I work with a woman that calls her self a Christian, she is the most bigoted person I know. She hates muslims more than any other group, though she is a racist. She once asked me why gays are not more anti-muslim. I told her we are but Christians are a more direct threat to my life and liberty. That look on her face is a cherished memory.

Anti-Muslim bigots don’t even bother with trying to make it appear less bigoted by using the ‘they have (imaginary) Muslim friends’ excuse.

      • cleos_mom

The same could be said for most of the NALT “community.”

    • David Walker

As we know, the chapters and verses in the bible are arbitrary divisions. For example, Romans 1 blah blah blah. And the first verse of the chapter 2, the continuation of the “thought,” is
“1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”
But that couldn’t possibly apply, right?

      • REBELComx

Of course it doesn’t apply. Bible verses are only taken out of context we we use them to show horrible the book is.

      • Nathan Smith

The fun part is that Romans 1:18-32 is not Paul’s personal belief.. It’s a rhetorical technique called “prosopopoeia” where a writer speaks as another writer that he plans on refuting. Here in 18-32 Paul quotes the view of the false apostle and refutes it in chapter 2!

        • David Walker

          I love it. Thank you.

  • ElenorRigby

Me makes NO sense right up until the end when he says “we are messed up.”

    Yes, Bae, you are.

  • popebuck1

Well, if he’s going to be like that, guess who’s off the list!

It’s his loss, too. We were gonna have a sushi bar at the reception!

  • Publicly promoting the murder of anyone one or any group of people is hate speech. This fool should be arrested and charged with a hate crime.

    • Bluto

This is ‘murica, damnit. We have no hate speech laws. Promoting genocide is perfectly legal & socially acceptable.

      • TampaDink

So long as it is “in jebus holy name, amen”.

  • ham hock

But go ahead and keep saying christians are a “persecuted people”. These people are vomit inducing.

    • scottrose

      ,,,,,

  • nycmcmike

So weird, the copy of the Bible I have calls for the execution of any adulterer which would be probably 99% of his audience.

btw, the Hebrew term for “abomination” has NOTHING to do with morality and is only found to convey ritual transgressions. In fact, the translation of “as with” is totally bogus. That word mens ‘bed’ every other time it’s used in Levitucs, there’s no way any Hebrew term can mean, and only mean, ‘as with’ and when Paul referred ot this very scritpure he rewrote “bed” but, you know, it’s impossible to condemn gay people with a line that actually reads “a man shall not lay with another man on a woman’s bed”.

    • sandy

ultimately, the bible is totally irrelevant and there is no such thing as god. if they want to start prosecuting people based on their bible, i want them to prove the existence of their so-called god.

      • stuckinthewoods

If they want to start prosecuting people based on their bible, I want them to demonstrate where that is allowable under civil law.

    • lymis

Oh, please, such overstatement. There’s no way that 90% of his audience would be put to death for adultery.

Because there’s no way anywhere near that many would have survived the admonition to murder children if they lip off to their parents.

      • grada3784

        Don’t forget working weekenders.

    • B Snow

Your “bed” interpretation falls exactly in line with my interpretation of that line. I believe it means that men who marry women shouldn’t keep having sex with men (like every other culture in that part of the world did back when the bible was written (and still do, in a lot of places)), probably mainly because it’s disrespectful to one’s wife (to have sex with someone else on her bed).

  • shellback

Hey, you delusional fuck-wart slime-ball, come and get me. I fucking dare you.

    • David L. Caster

Kevin Swanson, along with the Mike Huckabees and Steven Andersons, are all cowards. You have nothing to fear from them. What concerns me is their delusional followers. Watch out for them because they truly are dangerous. The Christofascist terrorist is not a foreign concept in the US and elsewhere in the world. Every one of these so-called “leaders”, barely distinguishable from the likes of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, should be on the DHS watch list.

I sense this is going to be a dangerous century for the voices of peace and reason

  • Romans 1 also says gossips are to be put to death. Here, Kev, eat some shit bread (Ezekiel 4:9-13) and wash it down with a cup of poison (Mark 16:18).

I can cherry-pick your stupid book as well as you can. Just fuck off.

    • Frostbite

I can too! Matthew 6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

      • MDB

        Yay-men.

      • And they complain it’s non-christians who want to silence them in the ‘public square’ when it’s their own Jebus who commands they be silent.

        • Frostbite

He commands them to help the poor, the sick and the needy too. They aren’t so good at obeying that one either. Ben Carson said that “wouldn’t be wise.”

      • I.Smith

But that is Matthew no one listens to him, its Paul who is the main one to listen to instead of that bloke called Jesus and the others.

        • David Walker

I truly and verily believe that Saul/Paul was the first grifting xn. He smelled that there was money to be made amongst the poor and fearful and merrily fleeced away.

          • Saul was the Anti-Christ that Jesus said would appear before HIS generation died. The Xtians keep trying to sell the idea that the dude hasn’t put in an appearance yet, to deflect attention away from the fact that they themselves are the worshipers of the beast of Revelation. Must.stop.now, remember blood pressure, breath slowly, release, think calm thoughts, think calm thoughts.

          • David Walker

You too, huh? I understand right down to the slow breathing.

      • Grimes

Learning about this verse in my youth began my process of realizing the book was ebbing and that Christians are hypocrites. Glad to be rid of that faith

    • Gustav2

That would shut down every Christianist website.

    • David Walker

I used this in response to someone else, pretty much to illustrate the same point. The is Romans 2:1, the verse immediately following his Romans 1 diatribe:
“1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”

  • Happy Dance

    Sharia much?

  • justmeeeee

What are they hoping to get out of this whole running for president charade, anyway? Surely they don’t think most Americans will buy this crap? Are they just setting themselves up to further fleece the faithful on speaking tours in the future?

    • David L. Caster

Exactly. Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, and Bobby Jindal will never be POTUS. Their hustle is grifting gullible rubes out of their money in the name of Jeebus.

“at long last, have you no shame?”

I think we all know the answer to that question.

      • dt

Maybe so, but sw42’s suggestion should not be ignored. It’s IMPERATIVE that they be called out. This is dangerous business. It’s a very, very big deal.

    • cleos_mom

There might be such a moment at some point but this isn’t it.

Remember, this is the religious group (including the NALTS) who actually tried to frame the morality of murdering doctors who perform abortions as a legitimate “discussion.” They can just as easily speak of a “discussion” about exterminating gays and they can count on the so-called progressive Christians to say not Thing One about it.

  • JoyZeeBoy

As usual, though, his type never mentions those of us who don’t believe a fucken word of his “Wholly Babble.”

What a loon. Not only does Romans 1 NOT say anything about capital punishment for gays (it doesn’t even address gay people in the passage), but he doesn’t even know the damn scripture reference for 1 Timothy – it’s 9, not 4. But it’s unequivocally clear!

Few want to be associated, at least openly, with the US christer backed Kill the Gays movement.

It was bought and paid for in Uganda by right wing scum like Obama’s BBF Rick Warren, who thankfully pulled back when it looked as if a state sponsored murder camping might begin in Uganda.

The central reason that thugs like Rick Warren, Scott Lively and Kevin Swanson backed the Kill the Gays movement was to provide an opportunity to export it back to the US other countries. All of them, and their political associates in both parties, are guilty of crimes against humanity.

Lively is being sued along those lines – Sexual Minorities Uganda v. Scott Lively – assisted by the Center for Constitutional Rights. It’s a very important case. https://ccrjustice.org/home/what-we-do/our-cases/sexual-minorities-uganda-v-scott-lively

          Elections don’t change anything.

“A new scientific study from Princeton researcher Martin Gilens and Northwestern researcher Benjamin I. Page has finally put some science behind the recently popular argument that the United States isn’t a democracy any more. And they’ve found that in fact, America is basically an oligarchy.

Comparing the preferences of the average American at the 50th percentile of income to what those Americans at the 90th percentile preferred, as well as the opinions of major lobbying or business groups, the researchers found out that the government followed the directives set forth by the latter two much more often. It’s beyond alarming.

As Gilens and Page write, ‘the preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.’ In other words, their statistics say your opinion literally does not matter.” http://mic.com/articles/87719/princeton-concludes-what-kind-of-government-america-really-has-and-it-s-not-a-democracy

They’re both owned by the rich, you know, right wing thugs. “There are great American political fundraisers. And then there are Hillary and Bill Clinton, the first couple of American political fundraising. Few in American history have collected and benefited from so much money in so many ways over such a long period of time. Since they arrived on the national political scene 32 years ago, the Clintons have attracted at least $1.4 billion in contributions, according to a review of public records by TIME and the Center for Responsive Politics..”http://time.com/clinton-money/

        • pch1013

Right, so it totally doesn’t matter if someone like Ted Cruz becomes President and surrounds himself with advisors who want to kill us. Hillary would do exactly the same, because capitalism and stuff.

          • Bill_Perdue

Obama’s BBF Rick Warren was an early supporter of the effort to impose the Kill the Gays Bill on Uganda.

And that’s why people like you are the problem in this country. If both parties are the same then why vote, right? Just let the Republicans get whatever they want. You really think the Republicans are not going to nominate Supreme Court Justices to replace the retiring Democratic ones who will most definitely roll back marriage equality (for starters)? It’s people like you that gave us GW Bush and the economic misery he left the country with. Tell us the truth. Are you a Republican plant, trying to discourage already woefully apathetic Democratic voters from voting. The Democrats may not be perfect but do you really think the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell would have happened under a Republican president?

          • Bill_Perdue

Democrats and Republican like you who vote for wars, racism and union busting are the only real problem.

Stop lying. Bill Clinton caused the crash of 2007 by promoting and signing NAFTA, the deregulation bills of 1999 and 2000 and by gutting welfare. He also imposed DADT and DOMA on us, causing immense harm. Tell us the truth, that’s why you like Democrats, because they’re are Republicans in drag.

It did happen under a Republican president. “The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican.” Obama, in an interview with Noticias Univision 23. Obama, as a candidate, promised Hope and Change. What a crock “Once in office, Obama chose:

Wall Streeters to dominate his economic team, including Clintonites like Larry Summers as chief economic advisor and Peter Orszag as budget director.

            – Monsanto executives and lobbyists for influential food and agriculture posts.

            – a corporate healthcare executive to preside over healthcare “reform,” while allowing pharmaceutical lobbyists to obstruct cost controls.

The relationship between Obama and Rick Warren is tenuous at best, and Warren has been denouncing Obama since 2012 for being unfriendly to Christianity and “religious freedom.”

I’m not sure if you’re trying to associate him with Hillary as well. It’s hard to tell what your point with Hillary is, but I failed to see anything controversial in your post.

          • Bill_Perdue

The link between the bigot Warren and Obama’s campaign team in 2008 were very strong and Obama’s bigotry ensured the passage of Prop 8.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor! Are not the rich oppressing you and dragging you into the courts? 7 Do they not blaspheme the good name of the one you belong to? 8 But if you fulfill the royal law as expressed in this scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as violators. 10 For the one who obeys the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a violator of the law. 12 Speak and act as those who will be judged by a law that gives freedom. 13 For judgment is merciless for the one who has shown no mercy. But mercy triumphs over judgment. ~ James 2

      I actually love fruitcake

      • RoFaWh

I adore fruticake, with one important proviso: it has to be good fruitcake. This in turns means either (a) my grandmother’s recipe or (b) the very different fruitcake from the Collins Street bakery in Corsicana, Texas.

        No others need apply.

Regrettably, my diabetes makes it highly inadvisable for me to eat either one.

Anyone feel a burning desire to find out what my granny’s fruitcake recipe is?

        • NowAnAgnostic

Yes. I would like to see it to compare it to the one I have come up with.

          • RoFaWh

            Here it is:

            Traditional Dark Fruitcake

This recipe is either a Depression era one or a very old traditional southern recipe as it calls for very simple ingredients. It is very close to an old recipe for “black cake”.

            5 eggs
            1 cup butter or margarine
            1½ cups sugar
            3 cups cake flour
            2 tsp baking powder
            1 lb dark raisins
            1 lb currants
1 lb dates – be careful to remove all pits
            3 slices candied pineapple
            ½ lb candied citron peel
1 cup nut meats – pecans are traditional
“5 cents worth” of candied cherries
1 cup mixed fruit juices. Orange+pineapple is a good choice.

            1 tsp cinnamon
            ½–¾ tsp cloves
            1 tsp nutmeg
            1 tsp allspice
            ¼ tsp ginger

Line the bottom and sides of a large tube pan (with a removable centre/bottom piece — an angel food cake pan) with greased paper or baking parchment.

Sift all dry ingredients together to mix well.

Mix raisins, currants, dates, candied peel, candied pineapple, and nut meats together. Add sufficient of mixed dry ingredients to flour well, then chop (not too fine) in food processor. Pulse the machine rather than run continuously. Several loads will be necessary to prevent the machine from overloading. Add extra dry ingredient mix during chopping if the mass starts to become sticky.

Beat eggs slightly. Melt butter or margarine and mix with beaten eggs and fruit juices. Add liquid mix to dry ingredients and chopped fruit in very large bowl, then mix well. Turn the mass of mixed ingredients into the cake pan lined with greased paper and shape to uniform depth. Push candied cherries one by one down into the mass of batter and fruit.

Cover cake pan with sheet of aluminum foil crimped around rim and down into centre tube. Bake at 250°F for 8 hours. Remove foil cover ½ hour before finish to give a slight crust.

Remove from oven and place pan and all on rack to cool overnight. Do not turn upside down to cool!

Remove cake from pan by lifting out centre/bottom piece, strip off paper. Poke holes into cake with a skewer, wrap in cheesecloth, and sprinkle with

about 1 tbsp brandy or whiskey

            Place in airtight container with

            1 apple, quartered

and store in cool place to age. Replace quartered apple from time to time and sprinkle with more brandy or whiskey if cake seems too dry. Beware using too much liquor as it will make the cake bitter.

Make this cake 6 weeks to 3 months ahead of time. If for Christmas any time between the middle of September and the end of October is good.

          • NowAnAgnostic

Thank you very much. I looked through some of my cookbooks for Fruit Cake recipes, and took parts of each to come up with my own recipe. I soak all the citrus, raisins, and cherries in rum and brandy for a day or so before I begin to make the recipe. This recipe is interesting in that it does not use molasses and applesauce.
I, too, have type II diabetes, but some sweets every day actually help to lower my blood sugar levels. The body malfunctions and sends a message to the liver to release sugar into the bloodstream, and the sweets counter that.

I thought it might be appropriate now for a Youth Pastor Update. Googling news of ‘youth pastor accused’ the following comes up on the first page:

–Youth pastor accused of sexually assaulting 15-year old.

–Youth Minister Gets 22 Years Jail for Child Sex

–Church denies negligence in abuse lawsuit

–Lawyer: Lobbyist [and youth pastor] in child sex case…

–A Martinsville youth pastor has been charged with four felonies involving a girl in his youth group.

–A former youth pastor was arraigned in Pottawatomie County on Thursday morning after being accused of sex crimes.

–Teacher and youth pastor accused of molesting 10 year…

Church after church after church after church, one scandal after another, with no end in sight. How could this be? Aren’t they god’s chosen people tasked with showing the rest of the world how to live? Don’t we Bible believers have it all figured out? Isn’t it the OUTSIDE world that’s fallen, or at least, worse than we are?

The contradiction, I suspect, is too much to bear between their self image and the grotesque reality. Therefore any number of pastors go off the rails and start accusing teh gayz and others of being the cause of “moral decline.” Look over there! Gays are getting married! THEY are the cause of our problems.

The fact that three GOP candidates did not walk out on this freak show says much. It’s hypocrisy at its very worst and every member of this audience should be on a terrorist watch list.

  • Well, the thumpers really got us this time. It isn’t just the old testament that condemns gays. Jesus didn’t mention gays, but Saint Paul specifically condemns homosexuality. Guess we gays had all better just give up. Of course Saint Paul also condoned slavery. Repeatedly. Even took the trouble of personally sending a runaway slave back to his master. But hey, they made Paul a saint, so who are we to question?

    • Gustav2

Gee, do you think that is why Jefferson left Paul out and just used the words attributed to Jesus?

      • Hmmmm….. Well maybe Jefferson wasn’t guided by the Holy Spirit?

    • I.Smith

St Paul who was not even a disciple of Jesus but was a famous persecutor of Christians and had not even met Jesus, but his words are deemed more important than Jesus are, Probably because he has an American sounding name instead of the immigrant one of Jesus.

      • Personally I think he had that vision of Jesus after he fell off his horse on the road to Damascus. Likely hit his head real hard.

        • No, he had the flash of insight; to destroy these upstart socialist Jesus followers, he had to do it from the inside, since his original method of direct attack wasn’t working. That’s when he cooked up his religion and pushed it onto the outside masses who hadn’t heard the original version. His version rolled over Jesus’s lesson plan by shear weight of numbers. That’s why next month we celebrate the birthday (on the wrong day) of the man who was against materialism with a yearly orgy of materialism on the 25th brought to you by satan..errr..santa. (I keep getting the “n” in the wrong place)

    • McSwagg

I just refer to him as Taint Paul in all variations of the definition of ‘taint’.

“That Paul is nothing but a smelly taint!”

  • lymis

Why don’t you grieve for all the beautiful young men and women who couldn’t survive growing up with your hate and killed themselves, or the ones who were murdered for simply being open about who they are? They’re all the children of some parent and they’re actually dead.

You’ve clearly got plenty of manure.

  • WhiteJesus

    Brown Jesus was amazingly gay.

  • The demented “Pastor” Swanson’s sick and twisted version of “Christianity” is shared by way too many people.

But let’s address the biblical issue. NOT ONE of the “clobber verses,” when properly understood, is condemnatory of the kind of homosexuuality that involves a freely-entered, consensual, loving relationship between adults of the same sex.

The sin of Sodom is one of violent inhospitality with a macho patriarchal twist – the Men of Sodom want to impress Lot’s visitors that no one messes with the he-ma, macho Men of Sodom – and do the Men of Sodom intend to “use” the male visiitors the way they “use” women. The implication is that by doing so, the men of Sodom prove their superior manliness, while the visitors become “less than women.” This is forcible rape.

The Leviticus passage might be interpreted to refer to the violent inhospitality thing, or quite literally to men sleeping in a woman’s bed – this is part of the “purity code” and men were not supposed to become unclean that way. (And why execute both perpetrator and victim? Perhaps being anally raped was seen as a fate worse than death and death would be a relief for the victim?)

Paul the Apostle’s passage in Romans is a reference to religious sects that were competition for Christianity – these religious sects offered wine-induced ecstasy and indiscriminate sex as a sacrament. The symbolic cannibalistic theophagy of Christianity wasn’t as much fun, even though Christians would celebrate an “agape” or love feast that did not involve random sex. Paul’s Pharisee background was repelled by these competing religions in Rome.

Then there’s that passage with “malakoi” and “arsenokoitai” which is likely a reference to the sort of sex common in those days involving an adult male and a young boy – not adult consensual behavior.

Religious leaders like “Pastor” Swanson, who mislead their followers in such a pernicious way, have blood on their hands. They may not be the ones throwing stones, but they are responsible for the actions of those who would deny LGBTQ people human rights and dignity, as well as thosewho would deny us our very lives.

    • Wynter Marie Starr

The thing is, it doesn’t matter what their mythology says. It is taken out of cultural and historical context and therefore cannot and should not be applied to any modern society. The fact that they misinterpret it is just one more thing to call them on. If these terrorists and extremists had to live by all the rules set forth by a desert tribe surrounded by enemies, they’d be “worthy” of death inside a week.

      • David Walker

Bumper sticker: God wrote it. I believe it. End of story.

That’s very hard to argue with. The mentality, that is, not the statement.

        • Wynter Marie Starr

          Here’s my argument: Prove it.

I can prove that men write and that various materials have been used to write upon and that writing systems (and language) evolved, one from the other.
          Your turn.

That’s how I argue the mentality, David, although those that refuse to learn can’t be taught.

Beyond that, we don’t live in a theocracy and calling for the death of citizens based upon personal faith is reprehensible and not a road sane people want to walk. I could lead any one down that road to its inevitable and ugly conclusion. I know for a fact you could do the same.

The continual calls for death against the LGBT community and the deafening silence and refusal to condemn such speech by other christians pisses me off. And makes me dislike those that call themselves christians. If wanting to see other people dead is what being a christian means (and it seems to be for many) you don’t get respect , understanding, or sympathy for your POV. What you get is average everyday people like me willing to fight that sickness.

(Rant over. Like I said, these people get me angry. If they didn’t have a platform for their hatred and bigotry, their families would have them locked away in a mental health facility.)

          • David Walker

Remind me to endeavor to stay on your good side. Actually, we see eye-to-eye. As for the christians who do nothing, I find them about as contemptible as The Truly Religious. There was a do-nothing organization, started with good intentions, called NALT, as in we’re Not All Like That. I had hope, and then as the attacks on us continued, there was this sadly predictable silence. I can appreciate that maybe I’m not as urgently in need as, say, the sick, the starving, and whatever else is more important than icky gays. But they’ve never really said anything, and they are now as much of a joke as the HRC.

          • Wynter Marie Starr

Christians are always calling for the less than 1 percent of Muslims who live in this country to condemn acts of violence. Yet, they don’t feel the need to police their own. They should apply the same rules to themselves that they apply to those that do not follow their brand of mythology. When I hear people defend this type of speech as only being biblically accurate I start listing the things that would see their hypocritical asses stoned.

You’re always on my good side, David.

I mean, I am no agriculturalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I have indeed been led to believe that pig scat is indeed the most odoriferous of the two. But oh no! They go straight to the bovine variety time after time again, leaving the lowly porcine species to wallow in their own crap, and all of this despite its far superior olfactory qualities. Honestly, people, if you’re going to go out and get all tarted up for a night on the town, nothing quite says “Yep, that was me, all me– breath it in and die!” quite like the wafting stench of rotting pig feces. I think the hue and cry should be about the corporate media covering for this hatred and advocacy of murder, not to mention lunacy trying to destroy everything America stands for. The circus has lost track of just how many clowns are supposed to be the ‘loyal opposition.’

    • billbear1961

The circus has become a sordid celebration of barbaric rites.

The louder and more frantically they denounce their neighbours for abominations the clearer it becomes THEY are the mad, abominable ones!

      LISTEN to them!!

      Christ!!

I have no sympathy if he is gunned down to death.

If he promotes that LGBT people need die so it means he needs to die too.

    • billbear1961

One can argue that the death penalty is perfectly appropriate for those who advocate GENOCIDE, especially if people are killed–MURDERED–as a result of the criminal’s advocacy of such INSANE and BARBARIC measures.

  • Dean Dixon

We need to address the problem of domestic terrorists in this country. Here is a man calling for the murder of people. This fucking Christian Psychotic needs to be locked up. I fear Christianity more than Islam, these nut case are prowling my neighbor hood.

  • billbear1961

The Bible is pretty goddamned clear about the punishment for ADULTERY, too, you filthy, fucking HYPOCRITE!

Try enforcing EVERY biblical rule–every barbaric, offensive and/or nonsensical one–and the punishments for breaking them, not just the ones that suit YOU and your dirty, two-faced allies to use against those you HATE, you evil, backwards SAVAGE!!

If all rules are enforced, I’m willing to wager it won’t be too goddamned long before we read of YOUR execution by STONING, you fascist MADMAN!!

Kermit the Green “Gay” Frog Killing Swanson is THE messed up bag of psychological ratshitand bestiality here.

Not the gay couples stepping around his cow-shit smeared covered ash and sack- cloth gesticulating screaming brain-damaged foul body.

He is there to disrupt, with his SICKO RUDE batshit BULL, and to HAIL HATRED down on their wedding commitment, love and joy in one another. They are normal and he is a supreme Drama Queen psychotic presence.

(He might as well get Westboro to come over as well but that would detract from his own self flaunting narcissism). Because this Swanson MONSTER is bereft of grace or dignity, so twisted and deformed as he is, by his violent HATRED. An Anti-Christ if there ever was one. There is not a single “christian” neuron in his entire protoplasm.

All of his useless self-loathing hatred herein refocused on an INNOCENT and much PERSECUTED minority group. Doubtless this “BITCH” is a hidebound RACIST to boot.

There is a MONSTROUS PSYCHOPATHY that overwhelms all perspective or justice in this idiot’s MICROSCOPIC vision of our vast universe. The ?? “man” ?? is in the total thrall and love of MURDER, … if he could only perpetrate it without prison … he would carry it out, without inciting others to do what he is too cowardly to risk.

I would spit in his subhuman fascist totalitarian MONSTER FACE while shouting out imprecatory Proverbs 109 wishes upon him, (not upon his much to be pitied children, just upon the MONSTER himself. And the same goes for Huckacongrifter, Demagogue Cruz and Jizz from the lips spewing Jindall. F.U.C.K. these apostates.

Funny that there’s a death penalty for many other things these rabid nuts ignore.

  • Bill_Perdue

  • NancyP

I think that we could designate a worthy LGBT cause/organization, say, safe houses and secure education for homeless TGLB teens rejected by their parents. People could pledge a set amount of money to be donated to the LGBT cause/organization each time Swanson, Shoebat, or some other freak calls for our execution or imprisonment – with number of pledges, and quarterly cumulative totals donated, sent to each hater (S, S, and others) followed by the donations campaign.

This is modeled on the Operation Rescue (threatens to shut down clinic) anti-abortion protester head count strategy that has been used to raise money for Planned Parenthoods and financial-hardship abortion subsidy funds around the country.

  • NancyP

BTW, I don’t have great gaydar for men. Is Swanson a closet case?

  • Bradford Kelly

Lets just contemplate this scenario for a moment.

Take the religion out of this for a minute and place this guy on a street somewhere or another venue.

Now let him talk about smearing himself in manure and ashes. Let him scream and yell and dance around.

Now think; Would president Obama want to be associated with this Man?

    NO!

Yet potential Republican presidents thinks its totally OK to actively support this clearly unhinged man. He needs our help and pity not a stage and an audience.

  • NeverEclipsed

I wouldn’t think any politician might have had a worse day than Ben Carson, but really, Huckabee, Jindal, and Cruz all might have, because this is about the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and if they were there, they should hold some accountability for this.

Absolutely. He’s on a par with Donnie McClurkin, Rick Warren and Scott Lively.

  • teedofftaxpayer

There is no surprise these three are there. They’ve been anti-gay since the beginning of time. It’s all the more reason for LGBT to get up off their collective asses and get out and vote-every vote counts.

This last Tuesday goes to prove that the Republicans wants to take away our rights and given a chance you can bet they will. And if elected-a Republican House, a Republican Senate and a Republican President will stack the courts so that they can stop LGBT at every turn. The Republicans have stopped President Obama from appointing very many Justices on the different courts. Once they take control of the Presidency you can bet the new judges will be Scalia and Thomas clones.

1 Samuel 18:1-3King James Version (KJV)
18 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
2 And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house.
3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

Note: In those days, “covenant” was marriage.

  • Dennis Cope

I think this performance is already a Shit show!!!

  • CrazyJeep87

I noticed that one of my comment was removed because of cry babying, anti-gay Christians reported my comment.

Swanson’s church needs to be shut down and he needs to be charged with genocide, also he made threatening message to LGBT people based on his rhetorical phrase, not intentional. Sadly, we can’t make similar rhetorical back to him.

  • uranophobiac

Good Lord! Jesus, I haven’t been to church for a while. Is this what they’re doing now?

  • rjt777

    He uses the harsh
descriptions in the Bible to indicate the seriousness of the sin and he says
what he would do in mourning if his own son or child were to invite him to their
homosexual marriage. He does NOT call for “killing” homosexuals
as you who say that he does, nor are all the other Christians at this event or
elsewhere calling for killing homosexuals. When you say they are, you LIE.
That is all I will remember about this farce of a skewed and trumped up
story brought out and purposely misconstrued so that someone who exercises
their 1st Amendment right of expression and religious freedom, that does not
agree with your homosexuality, and has not been cowed into silence by all the
homosexual thought police groups running rampant in America now, can be lambasted
with hatred and then ALL Christians can somehow be accused of wanting to kill
homosexuals at the same time. You have replaced a religion you denigrate
with your own self-created religion of hatred and therefore become no better
than what you are fraudulently saying that he and somehow ALL Christians are.
From all the vile and viciousness of your attacks, many have come to
believe you are projecting onto them what you yourselves would rabidly do to
them, if you could get away with it.
That is the saddest conclusion of all.
May GOD Almighty touch our hearts and help us all.

    • Delphini

Kevin Swanson has stated before that his religion means the actual, literal death penalty for gays. “A Christian perspective ultimately brought the death penalty upon homosexuality between roughly 350 AD and roughly 1850 or so, for about 1,500 years that form of life had pretty much been eliminated” from here: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/generations-radio/player/chik-fil-a-and-boy-scouts-stand-strong-miss-piggy-on-a-bun-294260.html

      and quoted here: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/kevin-swanson-nostalgic-time-homosexuals-death-penalty

That’s ridiculous that you accuse the people here of projection and hatred. I don’t see anything stating that every single Christian just called for the death penalty for gays, I see criticism of Swanson. The right to free speech does not give you a right to be free from criticism of your views, but your complaining about “viciousness” sounds like you feel entitled to never be criticized. For the record, I fully support Kevin Swanson’s right to express his murder-promoting beliefs so that rational people can see who he actually is. I’m glad there isn’t a law requiring Kevin Swanson to sound like a nicer person than he actually is.

  • Jan Wesselius

God, what a drama queen he is. He is the typical Christian. They may say hate the sin (where there is none). But deep down inside they want to kill all the gays.

  • medcannabis1

  • cleos_mom

If homophobes of the pious variety start showing up at relatives’ weddings in ash- and manure-covered duds, brides and grooms would do well to establish a “Christianist section” for guests. Near the door and equipped with a battery of air fresheners.

Interesting too that the references are only to “sons”, which might provide a hint as to the pastor’s fantasy life. Not to mention that CriminalMindsworthy references to carving smiles on sores.

  • Texndoc

Ha, that second video reminds me of when I was an intern and was dictating something and a senior female resident was listening and said “you might want to use ‘full of puss’ and not ‘pussy’.”

  • Skokieguy

During the general election debates, would be terrific for the moderator to ask the Republican candidate “Why didn’t you condemn the candidates who appeared at an event with a pastor calling for killing gays?”

Even if they stumble through an answer, it would be great for the general public to realize the current state of anti-LGBT hatred. Would be a tremendous help toward getting full national equality legislation passed.

    • Halou

You know that the candidates would weasel their way around the question and deny any knowledge of what was said despite standing right next to the bigot saying these things. Any debate moderator should, as a rule, have to play video/audio recordings for everyone to know. They shouldn’t be allowed to deny and give the facts a handwave, as Ted Cruz did when asked about the matter on CNN.

A solid plan for freedom! First, we send the FREEDOM POLICE to gather the horrible pus dripping gays into FREEDOM CAGES on a FREEDOM TRAIN, which takes them to a FREEDOM CAMP, where they can do FREEDOM CHORES, such as helping to manufacture FREEDOM BOMBS and FREEDOM TANKS, then we march them into the FREEDOM CHAMBERS where they breathe in the lethal FREEDOM GAS… and then it’s on to the furnaces where CLEANSING FIRES OF FREEDOM disposes of the diseased refuse, which is finally laid to rest in a FREEDOM PIT!

See that yellow greasy smoke rising over the FREEDOM FACTORIES? That’s FREEDOM SMOKE!

Aw, who am I kidding, I can’t follow that guy’s act. There’s just no way to parody that. Poe’s law kicked into warp drive and left Godwin’s law in the dust.

  • the truth

just for fairness, I’d like to see the entire speech.
Because if what he really said was something like: “We know the bible says the punishment for homosexuality is death, but Jesus also says ‘he without sin may cast the first stone’. So we should tolerate and love them.”

That context would put a very different ring to the story.

Think I’m giving too much latitude? There is an awful lot of wisdom in Jesus’ statement on judging others.

    • JCF

“We know the bible says the punishment for homosexuality is death”

Still a lie. The Bible says NOTHING about homosexuality, homosexual orientation being a modern concept.

    • Ninja0980

He once called for a country music singer who supported us to be put to death as well so context isn’t needed, he truly wants us dead.

  • Frank LeRose

Please know that ANYONE who uses the Bible, or Christ, or God, or any combination thereof to spread hate, judgment, and bigotry is NOT…I repeat NOT a True Christian. They are those who just don’t get the REAL message of Jesus Christ…which is simply to love one another. This man is seriously deranged and I weep and pray for him.

    • Glen

According to Christians, Jesus IS God.

And the God of the Bible is this —> http://www.EvilBible.com

I think the millennia of Christian history speaks for itself. Anyone who uses the Bible, Christ, and/or ‘God’ to spread hate, judgement, and bigotry IS, I repeat IS a True Christian.

      • Frank LeRose

LOL…I, too believe that Jesus is God…for I AM a true Christian. Your reply, on the other hand proves my point exactly. Thank You so much for your validation.

        • Glen

Then you bring validation to not only people like Kevin Swanson, but to people like ISIS as well.

What makes YOUR fantasy imaginings any more justified than theirs?

To all those unwilling to call out the abject stupidity and irrationality of YOUR ‘god’ delusion, they are making it that much easier for those who would commit evil in the name of an invisible unsubstantiated imaginary fantasy ruler of the universe that ‘tells’ them what to do.

          • Frank LeRose

Your unwillingness to see any validity in my point serves YOUR delusion that I am anything like Kevin Swanson…when in reality it is YOU that mimic his behavior by using your beliefs to subjugate others you prove to be just as misguided and twisted as is he. I really don’t care if you believe in God…that’s your battle to fight. My point, and my ONLY point that I was making before you attacked me is that people who use their beliefs to hurt or hate others are NOT Christian. You admit you are not a Christian, and you are trying to use your beliefs to hate on me…but you can’t hurt me because I really don’t care what you think or what you believe. I am not trying to validate my beliefs here…I’m pointing out that Kevin Swanson and those like him who call themselves “Christian” are really NOT SO! Your comments make me think you might agree with this, so I don’t know why you are being so nasty to me.

          • Glen

There is no validity in your point. Like the typical religiously minded person you are full of fallacies.

Your ‘not a true Christian’ assertion is the classic No True Scotsman fallacy.

However, if one were to examine the whole of Christian history, and say which people most closely resemble what that has been, it would be the haters, the bigots, the ignorant, the fearful, and all manner of evil being done, often by otherwise ‘good’ people.

My battle to fight is in destroying the deference imaginary fantasy believers like you have long enjoyed. A deference that automatically opens the door to those like Kevin Swanson and ISIS.

There is no battle to fight against something you, Frank LeRose, KNOW you desperately desperately know, there is NO demonstrable evidence for. And nobody in thousands of years has been able to provide any.

The only battle to fight is fighting against the delusional stupidity and desperation, the indoctrination and undue deference given to religion, that has people believing in such crap.

I’m not trying to be nasty to you. I’m being harsh. Yet, I’m simply taking a vocal stand against that which has SO long allowed Kevin Swanson and ISIS to exist here in the 21st century. The deference given to religious belief, and the general societal refusal to call it out as being the root and source of the problems that it causes (as we see in the fundamentalist evangelical right-wing Christians, radical Muslims, Orthodox Jews, etc…)

Expect to see more of this. You’re on the internet now. Religion is trying to exist here too. But as has been said ‘The internet is the place where religion comes to die’. You’re no longer protected from having your imaginary fantasy beliefs called out and questioned just because you believe in the ‘nice’ version of it.

          • Frank LeRose

Glen, as long as you continue to grab hold of your misconception that what I believe, and practice, has ANYTHING to do with what Swanson is saying, there is no explaining anything to you. I have a great deal of validity to my point…but you refuse to even acknowledge what I am actually saying. You keep twisting what I say to reflect you’re interpretation of what you think I am saying based upon your interpretation of what you’ve heard other say.

“I” am talking about the spirituality of being a Christian…Swanson is talking about religion. They are not the same thing and, quite frankly, the more spiritual I become, the more I am appalled by most of what religion seems to be. My point, and I will try to say this one more time in the hopes that you will actually listen this time, is that those who use religion and the Bible to hurt others are NOT Christians. And, yes, I acknowledge that talks about the vast majority of those who have called themselves Christians over the centuries.

As far as what I know, “Desperately,” you must realize that you cannot speak for me…especially since you won’t even listen to what I say. You are missing out on a LOT, Glen. You are missing out on understanding that your and my beliefs about people are not all that different, you’re missing out on understanding that not all people who call themselves Christians are hate-mongers, you’re missing out on the true Christian mission of loving one another as He has loved us, and mostly, you are missing out on the peace and joy you create in your life when you give yourself over to a higher power that loves you unconditionally. I find that to be very sad, although not as sad as those like Swanson who think they have done this, but instead have just found rhetoric to prove their hatred and bigotry. You have your own hatred and bigotry against those you assume are wrong because they don’t agree with you.

My understanding of Christianity holds this promise…if you have spent your life denying faith because you cannot see or prove it, but discover upon your death that you were wrong, God will give you the opportunity to accept the truth and you will be welcomed into His kingdom…Now, does that mean big white columned buildings and pearly gates?!?!? Probably not…LOL…I don’t think we, as humans can grasp the concept of Heaven…but the opposite of Heaven is not going to “Hell,” since I doubt that place exists…but for your soul to die…which is forever.

But here’s the key, and what I’m hoping you will understand. Neither you, nor I REALLY know the truth. We know what we believe to be the truth. And given the choice of being in your position; a non-believer who may find out that you’re mistaken at the end of your earthly journey, which is made more “hellish” by your lack of faith in God and in people, or being in my position; at peace with my life and my God, no matter what happens to me in this lifetime, with the possibility that I am wrong and that this lifetime is it and then it’s all over, I would, without a moment of hesitation choose my reality…my choice wins no matter which way it turns out when I’m dead. Your choice doesn’t. And so, while we will never agree on this, I will continue to pray for you and for your soul. Godspeed.

You’re even more disgusting than Kevin Swanson, because you inflame the opposition by victimizing them with lies.

  • J Private

Outrageous interpretation of what this man said. He is no way called for murdering gays. Neither did Apostle Paul. True Christians understand that Paul was saying that living a life of sin, any kind of sin will cause you to be denied everlasting life thru the Grace of Jesus Christ. The wages of sin is death. That is hardly calling for the murder of gays. To emphasizr his point he said he would go into deep mourning according to ancient custom if his child became gay. He knows that it would cause his child to lose Grace. He definitely didn’t say he would show up at the wedding and kill his child. Get a grip people. Quit trying to use God and his word to fit your own agenda in a way that makes no sense.
