Dandy Darkly At Dick Dock

Last night my housemates and I attended New York City performance artist (and my real life pal) Dandy Darkly’s third annual show under Provincetown’s famed Dick Dock, where audience members were handed mini flashlights to train on Dandy as he spun elaborately rhythmic and alliterative story/poems, one of which was about the Stonewall Rebellion. “Oral traditions are not something found …

Afternoon View – The Squealing Pig

Judging by the letters to the editor in this week’s Provincetown Banner, lots of folks are very upset with the chief of police over a fracas he allegedly spawned at the Squealing Pig.  In other small town paper news: somebody caught a really big fish, the air conditioner at the library doesn’t work very well, and some lady got a …

Blowoff & Furball Go To P-Town

Two of my favorite parties will land in Provincetown during Bear Week 2013, which starts this weekend. Furball with DJ Corey Craig is Sunday, Blowoff with DJs Rich Morel and Bob Mould is Tuesday. For instance, it …

We’re all in one way or another trained to believe this is the apex of human relationships. After learning more about gay history and politics, after reading brilliant feminist and queer critiques …

Father Tony On Bear Week

“How you structure your Provincetown days and nights is telling. During Bear Week, I tried to do too much. I loved the people-watching from the chairs in front of Joe’s coffee shop, in the crowd at Tea Dance, or over a burger at Bubala’s. I loved the music at Bob Mould’s Blowoff party at the Boatslip, I loved my boat …
