From the comments over on Stereogum: “I’m seeing these guys on Sunday and I’ve never heard a note. What should I expect?” Answer: “Really relatable lyrics about relationships and concise pop song structures.” Heh. The new album is due in June.

Iceland Wants To Ban Web Porn

Iceland, where porn has long been technically illegal, wants to block all internet pornography even though web experts warn that such a move will likely cause many unrelated sites to be blocked as well. The proposal by Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson has caused an uproar. Opponents say the move will censor the Web, encourage authoritarian regimes and undermine Iceland’s reputation …

ICELAND: Mayor Of Reykjavik Supports Jailed Russian Punkers At Pride Parade

That’s the mayor of Reykjavik on top of the float. The Moscow Times reports: Reykjavik Mayor Jon Gnarr rode through the streets of the Icelandic capital in a bright pink dress and matching balaclava to add his voice to calls to free three Pussy Riot rockers facing seven years in a Russian jail for an anti-government performance. In a brief …

Sigur Rós – Fjögur Píanó

Filed under: WTF. But also: lovely. Nudity ahead…UPDATE: I didn’t even recognize him, but Gawker notes that that’s Shia LaBeouf going full-frontal in the clip. The band’s latest “Mystery Film Experiment” finds LaBeouf’s “victory rose” in full bloom at the 42-second mark (and again at the 48-second mark), followed by a bunch of other freaky artsy-type things like “an underwater …

Eurovision: Iceland’s Salóme & Jónsi

Feels like Andrew Lloyd Weber in Icelandic. Pop rocker Jónsi represented Iceland as a solo act in 2004, finishing 17th. I posted one of his solo clips here back in 2010.

Another Icelandic Volcano

President Obama cut his visit to Ireland short to avoid the ash cloud from yet another Icelandic volcano. Iceland’s airports were closed Sunday and trans-Atlantic flights were being diverted around that country’s airspace. Last year it was the Eyjafjallajokull volcano and now it is a volcano with another unpronounceable name, the Grimsvotn volcano, which is spewing ashes into the atmosphere. …

Eurovision: Iceland’s Sigurjón’s Friends

This sounds like the theme song to a 70s sitcom, yet it has enough of that Eurovision earnestness to make it tolerable. I do like the horns a lot. Here it is in Icelandic. So few acts seem to be competing in their native languages this year, which sucks.

HomoQuotable – James Hartline

“Iceland didn’t get the memo from God: After recently being struck with a catastrophic volcano that threatens to destroy their nation, Iceland has pressed forward with their governmental rebellion against God’s commandments. Voting 49-0, Iceland has voted to legalize same-sex marriages under the reign of their satanic prime minister, open lesbian Social Democrat Johanna Sigurdardottir. “In recent months the entire …

Iceland Approves Gay Marriage

Today Iceland’s parliament voted unanimously to legalize gay marriage! Iceland, the only country in the world to have an openly gay head of state, passed a law on Friday allowing same-sex partners to get married in a vote which met with no political resistance. The Althingi parliament voted 49 to zero to change the wording of marriage legislation to include …
