Florida Marriage Ban May Fail

The haters in Florida are falling short in the polls in their campaign for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. The Mason-Dixon poll, taken for The Orlando Sentinel, shows that 57 percent of voters support the amendment while 36 perecent said they intend to vote against it. Florida’s constitution requires a 60 percent majority to amend the document. With …

In a move the American Civil Liberties Union is calling “groundbreaking,” a federal judge has ruled in favor …

Desperation Move

More dumbassery from the McCain camp as they pander to Florida’s powerful Cuban vote. The truth is, there’s no love between Obama and Castro. The Castro advertisement actually uses the foreign leader’s words against Obama. But the quote is misleading in regards to the actual political dynamics in play. For starters, since Obama became the de facto nominee, Castro has …

Orlando Subdivision: No Queers Allowed

Another bit of lovely news from my hometown. The tidy palm lined streets and affordable homes of the Rybolt Reserve subdivision in suburban Orlando have become popular with middle class homebuyers and speculators but if you are a gay or unmarried opposite-sex couple the Homeowners Association has a message – don’t bother to try to rent here according to some …

Because Democrats Caused 9/11

This billboard went up in St. Cloud, Florida this week. St. Cloud is a one-time cow town just south of Orlando in Osceola County, but now it’s mostly known for its strip of budget hotels not too far from main gate of Disney World. The billboard was put up by some whackjob local businessman and “man of God” who is …

Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle Loves To Talk About T-Room Sex

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle once again hammered the straw man issue of dirty, restroom trolling queers yesterday at the same time that he allowed that a “responsible homosexual” could be mayor of the city. Naugle will be term-limited out of office next year and two openly gay men have announced their mayoral candidacies. Many in Fort Lauderdale’s gay community …

Well, that didn’t take long. Florida Governor Charlie Crist became engaged today to Carole Rome, 38, a woman he met only nine months ago on a trip to New York. Rome has two daughters, 9 and 11 years-old, from a marriage that ended in 2007. She is president of the Franco-American Novelty Company, a century-old Glendale, NY-based Halloween costume wholesaler …

NYTimes Mag: “Is Charlie Crist The Ticket?”

Yesterday the New York Times Magazine published a Q&A with Florida Gov. Charlie “Closet Case” Crist as his star continues to rise as John McCain’s possible choice for running mate. The interview hits on Crist’s centrist positions (for a Republican) and takes a shot at his perpetual deep tan, which Crist attributes in part to his Greek heritage. But the …

Today: Ex-Gay Days In Orlando
Sunday: T-Dance At Parliament House

The wacky sad deluded “ex-gays” are having a conference in Orlando this weekend and have peppered the city with their dumbass billboards. (But this one is a parody done for this blog a couple of years ago by musical theatre star Steve Schalchlin.) Hey, why did the “ex-gays” pick the same weekend as Gay Days at Disney World? Hmmm. Anti-“ex-gay” …

Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind

My hometown of Orlando has been rousting the homeless from downtown streets, causing them to go live in the woods outside of town. The homeless crackdown in downtown Orlando has forced many homeless to migrate near east Orange County suburbs. Within four miles of the busy intersection at Colonial Drive and the Econlockhatchee Trail, News 13 was told as 20 …

Florida Says Nuts To Nuts

Oh, those wacky Floridians. A bill is before the state legislature to ban the “ornamental testicles” that some Sunshine State idiots are hanging from their trucks and SUVs. Metal replicas of bull testicles have become trendy bumper ornaments in some parts of the Sunshine State, but state Sen. Carey Baker is campaigning to ban the orbs. Baker acknowledged that Florida …

Not Bears, Manatees

Bears and chubby chasers have a new reason to watch baseball. The Manatees are the Florida Marlins’ new 16-man “plus size” cheerleading troupe. FIFTEEN men auditioned. Fifteen made the cut. Few could tell an eight-count from a pivot turn, but no matter: Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the Manatees, Major League Baseball’s first all-male, plus-size dance troupe. When …
