Gone: Anoop Desai & Lil Rounds

Not very surprising, other than the abrupt fashion in which Lil was booted at the beginning of the show. Oh, and if you haven’t been able to log onto Facebook tonight, it probably melted down from all the digital acid thrown at disco oldsters Freda Payne and Harry Wayne Casey. Yowtch! Y’all know that KC is family, right?

Adam Lambert – If I Can’t Have You

Tonight was disco night on American Idol and out of seven performances we got three Donna Summer songs (Hot Stuff, Dim All The Lights, She Works Hard For The Money) and two Bee Gees songs (Stayin’ Alive and If I Can’t Have You). Because that’s all there was to disco. Feh. Anyway, Adam blew everybody away, as usual, although Kris’ …

Shena – Can’t Stop The Rain

If you’ve been jonesing for some seriously old-school disco, Shena Winchester is bringing the Chic realness. This song makes me very, very happy. You might remember Sheena as the vocalist from Full Intention’s great 2006 track I’ll Be Waiting. (Tipped by Chris @ Remember The Party)

Donna Summer At Jones Beach

Yesterday afternoon, with even the lure of a free ticket unable to entice any of my Manhattan-centric friends to embark on the travel science project that is a trip to Nassau County on Long Island, I headed alone to the Donna Summer concert at Jones Beach. About 2 1/2 hours into my mistake-laden journey (6 train to the 7 train …

Remembering The Party

I’ve started this post several times over since I got back from last week’s Trocadero Transfer 30th anniversary Remember The Party event in San Francisco. I usually get my event reviews up pretty quickly, but not this time. Part of the delay was due to difficulties in getting the video below uploaded from my camera, but I think that a …
