It’s not in the clip, but did you catch the part where the crowd booed Mitt Romney’s Mexican heritage? The crowd also booed the moderator when he asked Newt Gingrich about food stamps. Mexicans? BOOOO. Poor people? BOOOO. As always, you can’t make it up.NOTE: Romney has Mexican relatives because they fled there to avoid prosecution for polygamy.

At this morning’s GOP debate, the moderator tried to trip up Mitt Romney by quoting his 1994 pro-gay comment to Boston’s Bay Windows, a statement which is still denounced today by the anti-gay industry. LGBT rights got a lot more play at last night’s debate than at the previous ones. Result: predictable. And when Gingrich launched into his “Christians are oppressed” diatribe, the anti-gay haters went crazy with glee on Twitter.

In response to a question about his marriages, at last night’s GOP debate Newt Gingrich announced “I am a 64 year-old grandfather,” with the implied message that his younger whoring days are over.
