It’s A Bad Year For Matadors

Late last month a Spanish matador was grievously injured in Mexico, prompting renewed calls around the world to ban the “sport.” And yesterday in Madrid another matador was gored so grotesquely that many newspapers in Europe are under fire for having published a [WARNING!] horrific photo of the incident. I won’t post the photo here, but some animal rights activists …

SLOVAKIA: Skinheads Attack, Force Cancellation Of First Gay Pride Parade

Slovakia’s first ever gay pride parade was canceled today after skinheads attacked the participants with rocks, eggs and a tear gas grenade. Organizers are blaming police for not providing adequate protection. Eight neo-Nazis were arrested and there were no serious injuries. Members of the neo-Nazi group Slovenská Pospolitosť attacked the participants at a pre-parade rally for LGBT rights. A tear …

ARIZONA: John McCain Hires Gay Man As Senate Campaign Manager

You may recall that during the 2008 presidential campaign, Mike Rogers and Michelangelo Signorile outed John McCain’s Senate chief of staff Mark Buse, seen here in a photo provided to me at that time by a reader. Yesterday McCain named Buse as his new Senate campaign manager. Mark Buse is McCain’s new campaign manager. Buse is a veteran McCain aide …

It’s been coming for about a year, but today New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo finally announced formally that he is running for governor. “New York is upside down and backwards; high taxes and low performance,” said Cuomo. My campaign is this simple: I represent the people of the great state of New York and we want our government back.” …

Janelle Monae On Letterman

I posted the production video of this song last month, but for the last few days I’ve been coming back to Janelle Monae’s wonderful performance on Letterman this week. The band is amazingly tight and and I love how Monae bites on James Brown’s cape schtick at the end. She blows me away. Play this loud!

Signorile Interviews Donna Milo

Michelangelo Signorile has interviewed transgender candidate for Congress, Donna Milo. And she’s not too great on gay issues. At all. While she confirmed to me that she is in favor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (“of course”), it turns out she is opposed to marriage equality, giving the religious line on marriage being between “a man and a woman.” On …
