Previous gruesome ads about the dangers of smoking and HIV have caused some activists to loudly object that “scare tactics” turn people off to the underlying necessary message. New York City’s MTA is considering installing a system of sliding subway platform doors as the number of deaths and injuries from suicide attempts and falls continues to rise.
