The Houston Chronicle reports:
The Minnesota man suspected of killing a Democratic state lawmaker and wounding another was a student at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, the school confirmed. Vance Boelter, 57, enrolled in a two-year program at the interdenominational charismatic Bible college and graduated in 1990 with a diploma in Practical Theology and Pastoral.
“We are absolutely aghast and horrified that a CFNI alumnus is the suspect,” the school said in a statement on June 14. “This is not who we are. This is not what we teach. This is not what we model. We have been training Christian servant leaders for 55 years and they have been agents of good, not evil.”
In the wake of the shootings, Boelter’s friends and former colleagues reportedly described him as a married father with five children who worked as a security contractor. They said Boelter is a devout Christian who attended the evangelical Jordan Family Church outside of Minneapolis and attended campaign rallies for Republican President Donald Trump.
