Pardoned Capitol Rioter Launches Bid For US Senate

The Huffington Post reports:

A man pardoned by President Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack announced Wednesday that he plans to run for a U.S. Senate seat. “Today I am blessed by God to officially announce my candidacy for US Senate in the great State of Florida!!” Edward “Jake” Lang posted on X. Trump pardoned Lang, who refers to himself as a “January 6 Political Prisoner” on his X page, earlier this year as he waited for his trial.

According to the Justice Department, Lang was caught on video using a bat to strike police as he attempted to enter the U.S. Capitol to help overturn the results of the 2020 election that Trump lost to Joe Biden. During his four-year wait in a D.C. jail, Lang attempted to start a militia group with other prisoners involved in the Capitol attack and created online fundraisers for defendants.
