South Carolina’s The State reports:
With the United States Supreme Court having rejected his final appeal, Brad Sigmon will be executed by firing squad Friday barring last minute clemency from South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. It will be the first time that a person in South Carolina has been executed by firing squad and only the fourth time a person has been executed by firing squad in the United States since 1976. The execution is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On Friday, the United States Supreme Court declined to take up Sigmon’s case. His legal team, including Josh Kendrick with the South Carolina law firm Kendrick and Leonard as well as Federal Public Defenders from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, had asked the nation’s highest court to stay the execution as he had not been given enough information to make a selection about his method of execution.
