The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:
A divided Georgia Election Board voted Wednesday to re-investigate Fulton County’s handling of the 2020 presidential recount, reviving an inquiry into allegations of double-counted ballots months before this year’s election. The board, led by three Republicans lauded by Donald Trump at a rally last weekend, voted 3-2 to ask for an investigation by Attorney General Chris Carr and report his progress in 30 days.
The Associated Press reports:
The action shows the degree to which Republican outrage over the 2020 election continues to animate party activists and comes on the heels of a Saturday rally in Atlanta where former President Donald Trump attempted to relitigate unproven claims that he won Georgia. He praised the State Election Board at the same rally. A trio of Republican partisans aligned with Trump has cemented control of the five-member regulatory board, which has no direct role in determining election results but writes rules to ensure elections run smoothly and hears complaints about violations.
On Tuesday, the same election board voted to allow local officials to refuse to certify election results. Fulton County includes Atlanta.
