NewsBreak reports:
The Wilton Manors Police Department is actively searching for Craig Jungwirth, a man known for his history of harassment and scams. Jungwirth has been charged with stalking after making hundreds of appointments with a local barber, effectively shutting down his business.
Jungwirth has proven to be adept at evading law enforcement and process servers1. Recently, he has been appearing on apps, leading people to believe he is in town.
The mention of Jungwirth’s name is enough to make almost any gay man in South Florida cringe. He was once arrested and made national news for threatening to harm the Wilton Manors LGBTQ community with a “Pulse” attack in 2016. Over the years, he has continued to harass local queer men.
From a May 14th Out South Florida report:
The Hon. Melinda Brown and her court staff were in room 5165 of the Broward County Courthouse early Monday afternoon. So were BSO deputies, representatives from the prosecutor’s office, and alleged crime victims. The accused? Nowhere to be found. Craig Jungwirth was scheduled to be arraigned on stalking charges in Broward County on May 13. To the surprise of very few, he did not show up.
Brown revoked his bond and issued a warrant for his arrest. If he is captured, Jungwirth will be held without bail. He has a long history of run-ins with the law and of people accusing him of violence and harassment. The judge said they had notified all of his known addresses, and says that fulfills the legal requirement that he be notified. Jungwirth was arrested last month in Okeechobee County, but was released on bond.
Many LGBTQ businesses in Wilton Manors have posted Jungwirth’s wanted poster on their doors and on their social media accounts.
Yesterday Wilton Manors police posted their “be on the lookout” warning to their Facebook page.
Wilton Manors Pride is this weekend.
In addition to alleged threats and harassment, Jungwirth has been accused of creating copycat websites for LGBTQ events, especially those bear-oriented, and attempting to sell tickets.
