Presidential Donald Trump on Monday endorsed Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones for governor in what is expected to be one of the key 2026 races. Trump praised Jones for his loyalty and his athletic accomplishments as a former captain of the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Jones, you may recall, faced a lawsuit and calls for his ouster as a fake elector.

In 2023, a special prosecutor was appointed, but nothing, of course, ever came of it.

If elected, he would become the first accused fake elector to become a state governor.

Jones appeared here in 2023 when he proposed paying public school teachers a $10,000 bonus to carry guns.
