The Houston Chronicle reports:
A millionaire hunter from Dallas died after being gored by a buffalo during a trophy hunt in South Africa. Asher Watkins, who made his fortune trading luxury ranches, was on an organized safari last week, Coernraad Vermaak Safaris, when the fatal incident occurred. Watkins, 52, was tracking a massive buffalo in the bush of the 50,000-acre Banbisana concession in Limpopo Province. The buffalo suddenly charged and fatally injured him.
Watkins’ social media profiles showed his avid hunting style, with photos of trophies including mountain lions and deer. Close friend Shannon Wherry posted online: “On an African safari with his beloved mother, brother and stepdad, Asher came face to face with one of Africa’s legendary buffalo… In a moment of fearlessness as he lived his life, he met the challenge head-on, leaving this world a man of courage, faith and adventure.”
Read the full article. The Chronicle notes that Watkins’ social media accounts are being flooded with mockery. That’s just awful. Anyway.
