Abbott: Prayer Works, Some Prayers Were Answered

“Prayer works. Thanks to everybody across the country and across the globe who have prayed for the people of Texas during this very challenging time. So many of those prayers have been answered. As the Bible teaches, pray with thanksgiving to God.” – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, posting to X this afternoon as the death toll from deadly floods rose to over 70. During a press conference yesterday, Abbott declared that “prayer matters and could have been the reason why water stopped rising.” Obviously, the parents of the children found dead since Abbott proclaimed today a statewide day of prayer simply didn’t pray hard enough.
