The Washington Post reports:
In the latest presidential portrait revealed Monday by the White House, President Donald Trump is wearing a red tie and a blue suit against a black backdrop. He stares at the camera with a serious gaze, in a similar vein to his notable mug shot from two years ago.
The White House website and Trump’s official Facebook account updated the pages with the new portrait, hung in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the West Wing. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what prompted the change.
Both of his portraits from this year bear similarities to his 2023 mug shot from Georgia. His scowl in the photo at Fulton County jail became a symbol of defiance among his supporters. The Trump campaign immediately sought to monetize the unprecedented moment — the first mug shot of a former American president — by emblazoning it on T-shirts, mugs, koozies and bumper stickers.
