As Pride Month gets underway, MAGA-aligned activists online are hailing what they call a retreat by corporate America from LGBTQ+ visibility. Target, a major flashpoint last year, has scaled back its Pride merchandise, and many national brands have avoided rainbow-themed logos or June 1 Pride posts.
Right-wing influencers on social media are treating these moves as victories, circulating screenshots and declaring that conservative pressure campaigns are forcing companies to abandon “woke” marketing. But while online outrage builds, a very different kind of Pride celebration is taking shape at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
On June 28, the Log Cabin Republicans of New York City will host their annual “Pride Right” party at the iconic Trump property, complete with a premium open bar, hors d’oeuvres, guest speakers, and rainbow-themed promotional graphics. The event is explicitly billed as a celebration of “patriotism and pride,” and tickets are priced at $175.
