Trump Orders Another 2000 Troops Deployed In LA

CNBC reports:

President Donald Trump’s administration is ordering an additional 2,000 members of the California Army National Guard to the Los Angeles area under federal command, the Pentagon announced. The deployment of additional soldiers was ordered despite the fact that demonstrations against federal immigration enforcement raids across the city have largely dissipated.

A spokesperson for the LAPD told CNBC on Wednesday that there had not been any arrests related to protests in the city since Saturday night. Mayor Karen Bass lifted the city’s curfew Tuesday. The latest addition brings the total number of troops currently deployed to the LA area to 4,800. Of these, 700 are U.S. Marines and 4,100 are California Army National Guard.
