Bangor’s ABC affiliate reports:
Sen. Susan Collins, Maine’s only Republican lawmaker in Congress, says she is still considering how she will vote on the budget bill narrowly passed by Republicans in the House of Representatives. “I’m still looking at it because it kept changing up until literally the very minute it passed,” Collins said.
Collins specifically expressed concern with the changes to Medicaid, but she says she does support “reasonable” work requirements for people who are able to work.
“I am looking very carefully at the Medicaid provision, and in particular, I’ve been very concerned about the impact on children, on people with disabilities, on seniors who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, and for low-income families,” she said. “The House bill tries to thread the needle. I’m not certain that they succeeded, but I’m still looking at the specifics.”
