Gunman Named In Fatal Attack On Idaho Firefighters

Boise’s Fox affiliate reports:

The suspect accused of intentionally setting a brush fire on a mountain in Idaho on Sunday to ambush firefighters with gunfire, killing two and injuring a third, has been identified.

Authorities told The Associated Press that 20-year-old Wess Roley, who is now deceased, was believed to have set the wildfire on Canfield Mountain in Coeur d’Alene.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris told reporters that the fire was set to lure firefighters into an ambush. SWAT officers later found the man deceased on the mountain with a weapon nearby, and transported his body off the mountain as the wildfire was getting closer, according to Norris.
