Fox News reports:
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem uncovered and killed a multimillion-dollar program enacted by Biden that pushed for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and “inclusive environments in schools.” The Invent2Prevent program was originally designed to provide students with tools to prevent terror and violence in their communities. However, the Biden administration contracted with mainly far-left organizations [LIE], which curved the curriculum to focus on a DEI and LGBTQ agenda.
President Trump was given a mandate by the American people to eliminate wasteful government spending, and that is exactly what we are doing,” Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary, told Fox. “This program was not only wasteful, it was also using public money to support an openly partisan and political organization. “Politicized NGOs like Eradicate Hate have been siphoning away taxpayer dollars for far too long. We are ending the grift.”
From the Biden White House press release:
The White House Initiative on Hate-Motivated Violence established today will strengthen interagency coordination in preventing and responding to hate-motivated violence, leverage federal research and resources, and enhance engagement and consultation with diverse stakeholders, including communities targeted for who they are or what they believe.
The Department of Homeland Security is also announcing the awarding of $20 million in grants for state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments, nonprofits, and colleges and universities establish or enhance capabilities to prevent targeted violence. This year, DHS grantees for the program include, for the first time, two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and two organizations working in the LGBTQI+ community.
In December 2022, the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), a source of deep expertise for identifying, assessing, and preventing targeted violence, will release a comprehensive analysis of mass attacks in public spaces from 2016 to 2020, providing a better understanding of the circumstances and factors that lead to mass violence, including identifying and addressing the connections between online abuse and violence in communities.
To recap, a program meant to prevent mass shootings in schools has been canceled because two of the many grantees work with LGBTQ students.
