The New York Post reports:
Reopening Alcatraz — which closed in 1963 and has operated as a museum since — “should be on the table,” border czar Tom Homan told reporters outside the White House.
“We need detention beds. We do contracts in a lot of states, a lot of local municipalities. I think it’s certainly an option, especially for the significant public safety threats, national security threats,” he explained.
Homan also said he had “no idea” how much it would cost to modernize Alcatraz. “I think that’s an appropriate place for the significant public safety threats, national security threats. Why not?” he asked.
