Hegseth Named Grand Marshal Of NASCAR Race

NASCAR is undeniably one of the top sports when it comes to patriotism and honoring the nation’s military. The biggest Cup Series event that recognizes the military services each season is the Coca-Cola 600 around Memorial Day.

On Friday, Charlotte Motor Speedway made what appeared to be an announcement that aligned with the sport’s mission when it announced that U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will serve as grand marshal for the race along with representatives from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Navy.

However, many fans took to social media to express their displeasure with the announcement. “In other news, all ticket holders will be added to a pre-race group chat with Pete where he will detail NASCAR’s upcoming ‘attack plans’ against Formula 1,” one fan wrote.
