Tia Carrere has so much pride for her son, Jude Wakelin. “I’m really thankful that I think, somehow, I had a hand in making a child that doesn’t feel like [he] has to fit in with everybody else, doesn’t feel like [he] has to wear the same clothes, do the same thing,” the Lilo & Stitch star told PEOPLE in 2023. “[He’s] a real individual.”

The Grammy-winning singer married British photo journalist Simon Wakelin on New Year’s Eve in 2003, and the couple welcomed Jude on Sept. 25, 2005. After seven years together, they divorced in 2010, citing “irreconcilable differences.” In May 2025, Tia revealed that Jude had come out as transgender.

“He’s very matter-of-fact,” she told PEOPLE. “He knows who he is, and he’s very happy.” Even though his mom has been a household name ever since she played the iconic role of Cassandra Wong in the 1992 film Wayne’s World, Jude has kept a lower profile.
