ABC News reports:
One person was killed and at least four other people were injured after a vehicle exploded outside of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday morning, in what the FBI called an “intentional act of terrorism.” The blast shattered windows and rained debris for blocks.
“Make no mistake, this is an intentional act of terrorism,” Akil Davis, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, told reporters during a news conference Saturday evening. He said investigators believe the clinic was targeted.
The explosion in the 1300 block of Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs occurred at about 11 a.m. local time, rocking nearby buildings and leading to a fire and the collapse of a building, according to authorities. The debris field covered over 250 yards.
The Washington Post reports:
The clinic provided in vitro fertilization, egg freezing, surrogacy, LGBTQ+ family building and other services to the Coachella valley, according to the facility’s website. It is across the street from the Desert Regional Medical Center.
The clinic’s doctor, Maher Abdallah, told The Washington Post that all his employees were safe. No patients were inside the facility at the time of explosion, he said. “Our IVF lab is intact,” Abdallah said, addressing fears that had poured in over social media from people who had patronized the clinic. “Embryos were not affected in any way.”
“Our mission has always been to help build families, and in times like these, we are reminded of just how fragile and precious life is,” Abdallah said. “In the face of this tragedy, we remain committed to creating hope — because we believe that healing begins with community, compassion, and care.”
The Los Angeles Times reports:
An internal briefing circulated Saturday afternoon by senior officials within the Los Angeles Police Department and viewed by The Times noted that the FBI had confirmed the suspect was the sole fatality. That briefing also said police had found two rifles — an AK-47 and an AR-platform rifle — along with ammunition next to the exploded vehicle.
As the day progressed, the investigation moved 50 miles northeast to Twentynine Palms, where local residents reported law enforcement had cordoned off a section of desert tract homes, some wielding axes, in what appeared to be a search for explosives.
A law enforcement source provided The Times with a police briefing that identified the suspect as a 25-year-old man from Twentynine Palms. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it was assisting the FBI in its investigation in Twentynine Palms.
BNO News reports:
The bomber at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, has been identified as a 25-year-old man who left an online manifesto in which he described himself as a pro-mortalist, saying people didn’t give consent to exist. The suspect is Guy Edward Bartkus, a 25-year-old man from Twentynine Palms, a small city about 35 miles northeast of Palm Springs. He left a 30-minute audio recording in which he explained his motive for the attack.
“I figured I would just make a recording explaining why I’ve decided to bomb an IVF building, or clinic,” he said at the beginning of the recording. “Basically, it just comes down to I’m angry that I exist and that, you know, nobody got my consent to bring me here.” Describing himself as anti-life, he adds: “I’m very against [IVF], it’s extremely wrong. These are people who are having kids after they’ve sat there and thought about it. How much more stupid can it get?”
The cult is making their usual wild claims.
