The Christian Post reports:
President Donald Trump has nominated a former congressional leader and pastor as the new U.S. ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom. In a post to his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday evening, Trump announced that he is appointing former Rep. Mark Walker of North Carolina to oversee the State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom.
Walker served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2021. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2022. As an ordained Southern Baptist minister, Walker’s pastoral career saw him serve at various churches in North Carolina and Florida, including Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he served as pastor of arts and worship in 2008.

Last year Walker ran for North Carolina governor, losing the Republican primary to now-former Lt. Gov. Dooky Chute.
During his time in Congress, Walker appeared here for supporting anti-LGBTQ legislation, including North Carolina’s notorious 2016 anti-trans bill, which was shocking at the time, but not so much these days.
You may recall that Walker labeled Bruce Springsteen a “radical leftist bully” for canceling a North Carolina concert over the bill.
