Axios reports:
ABC’s Terry Moran noted during their interview that tourism numbers were down as he suggested Trump’s policies may have caused reputational damage — particularly with neighboring Canada. Advance bookings for Canada-U.S. flights in April-September were down over 70% compared to the same period in the previous year, per aviation statistics out last month from global travel data provider OAG.
After Trump declared during the testy interview marking the president’s first 100 days back in office that “prices are down,” Moran responded: “Not the tourism industry.” Trump continued, “Gasoline’s down. Energy’s down. Tourism is gonna be way up. Wait till you see the numbers. The tourism is way up.” “Not now,” Moran said. “Oh, sure, tourism’s doing very well,” Trump said. “We’re doing very well. Wait till you see the real numbers come out six months from now.”
