The Pensacola News-Journal reports:
Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis will be Northwest Florida’s next Congress representative. The Associated Press called the race for Patronis at 7:20 p.m. as Patronis was leading Democrat Gay Valimont by about 9 points.
Patronis had 96,717 votes, 56.97%, and Valimont had 71668 votes, 42.22%, as of 8:50 p.m. Non-party affiliated candidate Stephen Broden took about 1% of the vote.
“CD1 is where the hopes and dreams of the Democratic Party come to die,” Patronis told a crowd of supporters in a victory speech Tuesday night from the Fish House restaurant in Pensacola.
