Jeffrey Goldberg writes for The Atlantic:
The world found out shortly before 2 p.m. eastern time on March 15 that the United States was bombing Houthi targets across Yemen. I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I knew this is that Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense, had texted me the war plan at 11:44 a.m. The plan included precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.
On Tuesday, March 11, I received a connection request on Signal from a user identified as Michael Waltz. Two days later—Thursday—at 4:28 p.m., I received a notice that I was to be included in a Signal chat group. It was called the “Houthi PC small group.” A message to the group, from “Michael Waltz,” read as follows: “Team – establishing a principles [sic] group for coordination on Houthis, particularly for over the next 72 hours.”
Read the full article. There’s SO much more. Gift link below. Today Mike Waltz is in Greenland to threaten an invasion by the US military. If that happens, maybe we’ll hear about it first from Jeffrey Goldberg. Also, something something but her emails.

Accidentally texting war plans to a journalist — this country’s running on Mad Libs and loose thumbs. Classified ops via Signal? National security by group chat. The republic’s a sitcom and nobody’s laughing. #Gonzo
