KEITH SELF: I now recognize the representative from Delaware, Mr. McBride.
SARAH MCBRIDE: Thank you, Madam Chair, Ranking Member Keating.
BILL KEATING: Mr. Chairman, could you repeat your introduction again, please?
SELF: Yes, we have set the standard on the floor of the House, and I’m simply–
KEATING: What is that standard, Mr. Chairman? Would you repeat what you just said? You introduced a duly elected representative from the United States of America. Please.
SELF: I will. The representative from Delaware. Mr. McBride.
KEATING: Mr. Chairman, you are out of order! Mr. Chairman, have you no decency? I mean, I’ve come to know you a little bit, but this is not decent.
SELF: We will continue this hearing–
KEATING: You will not continue it with me unless you introduce a duly elected representative the right way!
SELF: [slams gavel] This hearing is adjourned.
Self last appeared here in February when he joined fellow Republicans in a prayer thanking Jesus for sending Trump to end “perversion and depravity.”
Self, you may recall, was an organizer for the “Army of God’ trucker convoy was supposed to “righteously defend” the Texas border in January 2024. That never happened despite Self’s claim that 700,000 vehicles would participate.
Self first appeared here in 2023 when he declared that “people who don’t think prayers stop mass shootings also don’t believe in the almighty God.” Self maintains that the separation of church and state is a “legal mythology.”
