The Washington Post reports:
The FBI on Friday returned at least some of the materials it seized from Donald Trump’s Florida Mar-a-Lago residence and private club during a court-authorized search in August 2022, White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said.
The search was part of the federal investigation into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left the White House in 2021 and his alleged obstruction of federal officials’ attempts to retrieve them.
The search — and subsequent criminal charges — fueled attacks by Trump and Republicans on the FBI throughout the 2024 presidential campaign.
