Democratic US Rep. Raul Grijalva Dies At Age 77

The Office of the 7th District of Arizona has announced the passing of Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva. He died from complications related to his cancer treatments. Grijalva served Southern Arizonans in Washington, D.C., for over two decades.

“From permanently protecting the Grand Canyon for future generations to strengthening the Affordable Care Act, his proudest moments in Congress have always been guided by community voices,” said the office of Rep. Grijalva.

He led efforts in climate action, port of entry modernization, and health care access for tribal communities and the uninsured. His work also included supporting immigrant families, Dreamers, and student loan forgiveness. Grijalva was instrumental in creating public parks, childcare centers, health care clinics, and affordable housing in Southern Arizona.
