Charleston’s ABC affiliate reports:
Police say a Huger man that harassed Hispanic men in a now viral video, has bonded out of jail. Sean Michael-Emmrich Johnson was arrested after turning himself in to the Sullivan’s Island Police Department Friday. Saturday, Johnson appeared in court virtually from the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Johnson is charged with felony kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, larceny and third-degree assault and battery after a video on social media went viral of Johnson allegedly impersonating an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer earlier this week.
During the video Johnson says to the occupants of the car “you got caught where are you from, Mexico? you’re going back.” Additionally at one point in the video Johnson appears to have taken the driver’s keys so he couldn’t leave.
The Charleston Post & Courier reports:
Posted to the Facebook page of Nuestro Estado on Jan. 29, the video begins with the man — later identified as Sean Michael-Emmrich Johnson — leaning into the driver’s side window of the workers’ truck and yelling that they don’t speak English. He then tells the workers “they’re coming for you” and takes the driver’s protective glasses off his face and puts them on. “Where you from, Mexico? You from Mexico?” Johnson asked. “You’re going back to Mexico.”
The driver then tried to make a phone call, and Johnson attempted to snatch the phone from his hand while saying “no” repeatedly in his mocking fake accent. He then told them “it’s over” as the call connected. “This is America. We speak English in America,” Johnson said before repeating the statement louder. When the driver stopped engaging with him and faced forward, Johnson expressed joy that he was “mad.”
Johnson’s mother reportedly told the judge that her son faces “many mental health challenges.”
Trumpism operating as intended.
