Elon Musk sounded off on a federal judge for blocking access to the Treasury Department’s data systems to Musk and his DOGE team. Musk was not pleased by the ruling, to say the least. He kicked off what has been a day-long social media screed by pushing a claim from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) that Engelmayer’s decision even prohibited Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent from accessing the systems.
“This has the feel of a coup—not a military coup, but a judicial one,” Senator Lee wrote. “Yes,” Musk said, co-signing Lee’s statement. Multiple legal and financial analysts dispute Musk’s interpretation of the ruling — arguing Bessent himself clearly has access and is only prohibited from giving it to people outside the Treasury Department, such as those representing DOGE.
