The Arizona Republic reports:
U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs announced Tuesday that he is considering a run for Arizona governor in 2026, setting up a fight with President Donald Trump’s pick for the job.
Biggs, R-Ariz., a longtime ally of Trump, began his political career in the state Legislature, rising through the ranks to become president of the Arizona Senate. He has represented Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017.
The announcement sets up a fight between Biggs and Karrin Taylor Robson, the businessperson Trump has encouraged to run for governor. Trump passed over Robson in 2022, the last time she ran for governor, instead endorsing Republican Kari Lake. Lake went on to lose that year’s election and, more recently, lost a bid for U.S. Senate.
