Rubio’s Son Credits Jesus After Scoring Touchdown

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio praised his son Anthony, a walk-on player for the Florida Gators, who scored his first touchdown in the school’s Gasparilla Bowl on Friday night.

Anthony Rubio, a running back, scored in the waning minutes of the game against Tulane. Florida won, 33-8. The touchdown set off a frenzy among his teammates, with the celebration drawing a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

In an interview with ESPN after the game, Anthony Rubio said the team’s celebration was “insane.” “I want to thank God for that. It wouldn’t have happened” but for Him, Rubio said. “That was a great experience.”
