The Washington Post reports:
A man convicted of killing his brother and three other men in 1997 was executed in Indiana early Wednesday — the state’s first execution in 15 years. A statement from the Indiana Department of Correction said Joseph Corcoran was pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. at a state prison in Michigan City, Ind.
His wife, Tahina Corcoran, told reporters that her husband was “very mentally ill” and that she did not think he fully understood what was happening to him, according to the Associated Press.
Corcoran’s lawyers had appealed to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) [photo] for clemency, writing in a letter reported by local media last week that Corcoran had “struggled with severe mental illness all his life” and that he killed the four men “while in the grips of active psychosis.”

Indiana Capital Chronicle reporter @SmithCaseyA witnessed the execution. Corcoran added her to his witness list and the warden agreed to allow her there.
Without this, no journalist would have been present. Indiana is one of only two states that doesn’t allow media witnesses. https://t.co/2cwyhXvfzl

It started just after midnight CST and he was pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. CST.
His last words were: “Not really. Let’s get this over with.”

I spent less than 20 minutes as a direct witness to Indiana death row inmate Joseph Corcoran’s execution, but from what I was allowed to see, he appeared quiet and mostly still in the moments leading up to his death.https://t.co/bfFuD4hbqe
