Graham: Trump Is Right, End Birthright Citizenship

“President Trump is right to end birthright citizenship by executive order on Day One. We are one of a handful of countries in the world that allows birthright citizenship.

“In other words, if you’re born in the United States, you’re automatically an American citizen. This and birth tourism from developed countries like China have become one of the biggest magnets for illegal immigration.

“I have introduced legislation to end birthright citizenship, and I am now working on a constitutional amendment to end the practice.

“I believe legal immigration is important to our economy and future. However, birthright citizenship and birth tourism are strong magnets for illegal immigration and cheapen American citizenship.

“I look forward to working with President Trump to go beyond his executive order and end this disastrous policy once and for all.” – Lindsey Graham, posting to X.

Amending the US Constitution requires ratification by three-fourths of state legislatures, which isn’t going to happen as long as there are at least a dozen controlled by Democrats. Currently that number is 22.

Rather obviously, any “day one” executive order by the fascist-elect would go absolutely nowhere.

Worldwide, 33 countries (not exactly a “handful”) offer unrestricted birthright citizenship, including the entire Western hemisphere except Colombia.
