The New York Times reports:
The shooter’s travels to and within New York City are gradually coming into focus, a senior law enforcement official said. The man arrived in New York on an interstate bus from somewhere south of the city on Nov. 24, the official said. The shooter had been in New York City for approximately 10 days before killing Thompson, a senior law enforcement official said.
The shooter used a fake New Jersey ID on Nov. 30 to book a room at the hostel on the Upper West Side. The gunman appears to have used a silencer, an attachment long associated with Hollywood hit men but rarely seen in real-life murders. The brazen Midtown killing has unleashed a torrent of criticism of insurance companies, in particular the one Mr. Thompson led, UnitedHealthcare.
