Grassley Calls For Releasing Gaetz’s Ethics Report

Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who will become the Senate Judiciary chairman next Congress, told CNN that his panel would move quicker on the nomination of former Rep. Matt Gaetz to be attorney general if the House Ethics Committee were to release it’s report.

Grassley noted that there are a number of Republicans who want to see the report, arguing that its release would make it easier to move ahead with confirmation hearings quickly in the new year.

“I think that if they want a speedy consideration of this nomination, there’s — we’ve got to have as much transparency as we can have,” Grassley said. Grassley declined to say if he has spoken with Gaetz or Trump on the president-elect’s selection of the former Florida congressman for attorney general.
