The New York Times reports:
President-elect Donald J. Trump is meeting in the Oval Office with President Biden, a triumphant return to the seat of American power that he grudgingly left four years ago.
Mr. Trump’s trip to the White House was at the invitation of Mr. Biden, who honored the decades-old tradition in which the outgoing president hosts the incoming one — a display of respect that Mr. Trump did not extend to Mr. Biden while denying that he had lost in 2020.
According to reporters in the room, Biden welcomed Trump and said he looked forward to a smooth transition. Trump replied: “It will be as smooth as it can get, and I very much appreciate that, Joe.”
