Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is enlisting associates with close ties to anti-vaccine organizations to help vet and interview candidates for senior roles at the Department of Health and Human Services, even as he publicly seeks to distance himself from the movement he once led.
At least three informal advisers connected to the anti-vaccine movement are assisting Kennedy in filling out his staff as he prepares to lead HHS, highlighting Kennedy’s continuing close association with the movement and its potential influence within the nation’s leading health agency if he’s confirmed as secretary.
Kennedy ally Kim Haine reached out to a prospective candidate to set up an interview for a top HHS job, identifying herself as part of the “MAHA transition team.” Haine is the president of the Hawaii chapter of Children’s Health Defense, a leading anti-vaccine group that Kennedy chaired.
