Anti-LGBTQ Ex-Rep Who Voted To Repeal Obamacare Has Raised $680K In Medical Donations After Paralysis

The Staten Island Advance reports:

Over 5,200 people have donated to a GoFundMe dedicated to former GOP Rep. Michael Grimm who was paralyzed after a horse-riding accident.

“As we approach the holiday season, we are appealing to anyone and everyone for help to ensure Mike has the resources he needs to be able to walk again. Staten Islanders and all New Yorkers have responded — as they always do — in a huge way. Mike is so grateful to everyone for their support. This is not a political issue, this is a human issue,” Former South Shore City Councilman Vincent Ignizio said to the Advance.

Of the thousands of donations received, multiple are big-money contributions. Two accounts contributed $10,000 each and many $5,000 bestowments were listed on the GoFundMe. At the time of writing, $680,494 have been raised — 27% of the $2.5 million goal.

Some of the biggest donations are from sitting and former Republican House reps.

Grimm remains active on X and has posted there today.

As previously noted here…

Grimm first appeared here in 2011 when he joined a Catholic rally for abstinence-only sex education in NYC public schools.

In 2014, he earned national headlines when he threatened to throw a reporter off a Capitol balcony, saying “I could break you in half like a boy.”

The reporter was asking about Grimm’s then-alleged campaign finance wrongdoings, including using his ex-girlfriend as a straw donor.

Weeks later Grimm surrendered to the FBI on 20 felony charges and resigned from Congress, ultimately serving seven months in prison, after which he became a Newsmax contributor.
