Politico reports:
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Saturday that he does not believe Donald Trump to be a fascist, defending the Republican presidential nominee ahead of his rally in the blue bastion. It wasn’t the first time that the Democratic mayor has staked out common ground with Trump, and it came as little surprise. Adams has consistently differentiated himself from other Democrats by repeatedly declining to criticize the former president.
Adams made his latest remarks at a press conference at New York Police Department headquarters discussing security a day before Trump is set to host a massive campaign rally at Manhattan’s iconic Madison Square Garden. “I have heard those terms hurled at me by some political leaders in the city, using terms like Hitler and fascist,” the mayor said. “My answer is no, I know what Hitler has done and I know what a fascist regime looks like,” Adams said.
