Megachurch Pastor Defies City With “Jesus 2024” Sign

The Christian Post reports:

Controversial Pastor Mark Driscoll says he doesn’t plan to comply with an Arizona city order to take down a campaign-style sign with the name of Jesus Christ on property surrounding his church.

Driscoll, the founding pastor of Trinity Church in Scottsdale and the now-defunct Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington, said during a church service on Sunday that he received an email from the city about the sign, which reads, “Jesus Christ, ’24.”

An online listing for the 24″ x 18″ “Jesus for President” yard sign reads: “Annoy evil pagans AND your HOA (but I repeat myself) with the official Vote Like Jesus yard sign.”

Driscoll first appeared here in 2011 when he declared that male masturbation is a “form of homosexuality because it is a sexual act that does not involve a woman.” But it’s okay, per Driscoll, if the wife is watching.

Also in 2011, Driscoll appeared here when he ruled that yoga is satanic because “the result is often an unguarded spirit that is susceptible to the many lies of Satan and a slow, almost unperceivable degradation of faith.”

Later that year he defended his then-church’s mixed martial arts events, effectively saying that Jesus would knock the shit out of sinners were he around today.

In 2012, it was reported that Driscoll had his followers sign a “public confession and discipline contract” regarding their sexual sins.

We heard from Driscoll again in 2013 when he tweeted that “God did not give us a mind so we could use it to question or deny his existence.”

In 2014, Driscoll defended having spent over $200,000 to buy his way onto the New York Times bestsellers list.

In 2022, “scandal-plagued megachurch pastor Mark Driscoll” anointed Kari Lake with “holy oil” after which she laughed about the near-fatal hammer attack on Paul Pelosi.
