The Weather Channel reports:
Hurricane Francine’s dangerous eyewall is coming ashore in southern Louisiana. Dangerous storm surge, flooding rainfall, damaging winds and tornadoes will impact Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast and South.
Francine has made landfall in Terrebonne Parish, about 30 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, as a Category 2 hurricane after rapidly intensifying Wednesday. Winds are estimated to be near 100 mph.
Life-threatening storm surge will inundate low-lying areas along the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coasts. According to the National Hurricane Center, peak inundation may reach 5 to 10 feet in parts of southern Louisiana, including Vermilion Bay.
