Trump called it “an appeal of a ridiculous verdict of a woman I have never met,” in a speech at Trump Tower after the hearing. Trump then acknowledged he has met Carroll. A photo shows them posing with their then-spouses during a party in the 1980s.
Trump made multiple comments during the speech similar to those already deemed defamatory. “She made up a story, fabricated 100%,” Trump said. Asked about Trump’s comments, Carrol’s attorney Roberta Kaplan said, “I’ve said before and I’ll say it again: all options are on the table.”
Trump also criticized his legal team for their losses. “I’m disappointed in my legal talent, to be honest with you,” Trump said.
